Director, Technology – User Experience Design
At Williams-Sonoma, Inc. Tech, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency that prioritizes responsive and accessible design to deliver optimal user experiences. As the Director of User Experience Design, you will lead the strategic direction and execution across digital and internal tools, ensuring our design solutions exceed both functional and aesthetic user expectations. Your role is essential in driving our company's progress through pioneering design initiatives that improve user interaction and satisfaction.
Responsibilities for this leadership role include:
Articulate and execute a cohesive UX vision that integrates user-centered design principles with our business objectives. Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of UX/UI designers, researchers, and accessibility experts to excel in their roles and deliver exceptional products. Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and high performance within the UX team, emphasizing meticulous attention to detail and quality in design. Build and strengthen relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure seamless and cohesive user experiences across all touchpoints. Guide the UX team in employing advanced design techniques and methodologies, such as participatory design, user testing, and iterative prototyping, to refine and validate design decisions. Oversee the design lifecycle for a variety of products and services, ensuring high-quality deliverables are achieved on schedule. Continuously monitor emerging trends and technologies in design and UX, integrating state-of-the-art tools and methods to maintain our industry leadership. Actively manage, coach, and develop team members, providing clear feedback and support in their professional growth.
Skills/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a closely related field or equivalent work experience. 12+ years related experience with 8+ years of experience in user experience design, with substantial leadership and management responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to foster an environment of creativity and high performance under tight deadlines. Proven track record of effective team management and project leadership in large-scale UX initiatives. Extensive portfolio that showcases deep expertise in visual design, UX design, and front-end development. Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of effectively articulating complex design concepts across various audiences. Comprehensive understanding of accessibility standards with a commitment to inclusive user experiences.

The expected starting pay range for this position is $200,000 - $240,000 annually. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
