We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Director of IT- QA and Test Engineering to lead our quality assurance and testing function.
This role will be instrumental in defining and executing the overall QA strategy, leading high-performing teams, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable software products.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, deep expertise in modern testing methodologies, and a passion for driving continuous improvement and excellence in software quality. The candidate will define and manage test strategies, plans and deliverables related to testing within specific applications and program of work on a global basis.
What IT Quality Control contributes to Cardinal Health
Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.
Quality Control analyzes and inspects Information Technology products and processes for compliance to internal and external specifications and standards. This job family collaborates with IT Project Management, Business Integration, and Application Development & Maintenance teams, among others, during implementation and integration projects to proactively identify compliance requirements and risks. Quality Control also conducts regular audits and develops and communicates new quality control procedures for the function.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Define and lead the QA vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with business and product goals.Build and scale enterprise-level quality engineering practices across multiple product lines.Collaborate with executive leadership to align QA initiatives with organizational objectives.Ability to influence and collaborate with global functional leadership for desired outcomes.Team Management & Development:
Lead, educate, mentor, and grow a global team of QA engineers, test automation specialists, leads and managers globally. Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.Recruit top talent and drive professional development initiatives across the QA function.Process & Standards:
Establish and enforce best practices in quality engineering, including test planning, automation, performance testing, and CI/CD integration.Champion quality throughout the software development lifecycle using agile and DevOps practices.Implement metrics and KPIs to track and improve product quality and testing efficiency.Automation & Tooling:
Drive the implementation of modern test automation frameworks and tools.Oversee test architecture, ensuring scalability and maintainability of automation solutions.Promote shift-left testing practices and support developers in embedding quality from the start.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner closely with Product, Engineering, DevOps, and Support teams to ensure alignment and rapid feedback.Act as the QA evangelist across the organization, advocating for quality as a shared responsibility.Champion and participate in broader QA and Testing communityHands on experience:
Definition and implementation of automation frameworks for middleware and backend service-based applications in critical infrastructure designExperience and hands use of Agile automation tools Usage of latest AI tools.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.20+ years of experience in QA and Testing, with at least 5 years in senior leadership Proven track record of leading large QA teams in an agile, fast-paced environment.Strong understanding of modern QA methodologies, software development processes, and cloud-native architectures.Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.Experience with SaaS, enterprise software, or regulated industries (e.g., Payments, Investment banking, healthcare etc.).Familiarity with security testing, accessibility standards, and compliance frameworks.ISTQB Certified tester advanced level Test manager or equivalent BCS are a plusPMP or Agile Scrum Master are a plus.
