The following position is to join our RTX Corporate team:

As Director and Assistant General Counsel, Cybersecurity, this lawyer will serve as a subject matter expert on cybersecurity law within the RTX Corporate Legal, Contracts and Compliance (LCC) organization and advise and counsel RTX and its businesses on all aspects of cybersecurity law, as well as provide day-to-day legal support to the Enterprise Cybersecurity Services (ECS) organization. 

What You Will Do

Advise and counsel RTX and its businesses on all aspects of cybersecurity law, focusing on incident response, compliance, and transactions and contracts.Provide day-to-day legal support to the RTX ECS organization, and where needed, in coordination with the appropriate RTX LCC function (e.g., Privacy, Global Trade, Intellectual Property).Work closely with the RTX Privacy organization and serve as the Privacy professional for RTX ECS.Monitor and help shape cybersecurity laws, regulations, government-wide policies, and similar, as well as develop and strengthen external relationships with industry and government partners, groups, and regulators.Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of cybersecurity policies, standard work, playbooks, guidance, templates, and other documentation.Develop and deliver training on cybersecurity law, including continuing legal education (CLE) for lawyers and continuing professional education (CPE) for contract professionals, as well as assist with the development and delivery of general awareness training for employees, contractors, and third parties.Provide legal advice and counsel on all aspects of cybersecurity incident response (e.g., preparation, detection and analysis, containment, eradication and recovery), and be responsible for ensuring timely satisfaction of legal reporting obligations.Provide legal advice and counsel on cybersecurity insurance matters, including on RTX’s cybersecurity insurance policies and program.Provide legal advice and counsel on the cybersecurity aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures (MA&D), including on MA&D agreements, representations and warranties, and diligence.Manage outside counsel and vendors engaged on cybersecurity legal matters.

Qualifications You Must Have

Juris DoctorAdmitted to and able to maintain the ability practice law in the U.S. Minimum of 10 years of relevant law firm and/or in-house experience Knowledge of U.S. and global cybersecurity and data protection laws, regulations, government-wide policies, and similarPrevious experience advising and counseling clients on cybersecurity and/or data protection matters Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Minimum 10 years law firm and/or in-house experience in cybersecurity lawStrong investigative, analytical, written and oral communication skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, changing environment while organizing and managing multiple responsibilities and projects with competing priorities and deadlinesEffective team builder and team player that fosters collaborative relationships Strong sense of ownership and accountability and ability to make decisions efficiently and quicklyExperience working in both corporate and business legal functionsExperience advising and counseling clients on cybersecurity incident response, cybersecurity compliance, and cybersecurity aspects of transactions and contractsExpertise in cybersecurity aspects of U.S. government acquisition regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS, HSAR) and European data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, NIS, Cyber Essentials) Background in cybersecurity, information technology, and/or data protection, and possession of related certifications (e.g., CISSP, CIPP) 

Location:

Onsite or Hybrid from Farmington, CT; while there’s a strong preference for a Farmington, CT work site location, other locations, such as Arlington, VA, may be considered.

The salary range for this role is 171,000 USD - 343,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
