The Director & Assistant General Counsel role within the Corporate Legal – Regulatory Enforcement team provides legal and regulatory advice on market conduct exams and other regulatory inquiries for GEICO’s various insurance lines and its business units, including sales, underwriting, claims, product management & insurance compliance teams. The Director & Assistant General Counsel is a senior-level position within the Regulatory Enforcement legal team and has management responsibilities.

Desired Qualifications:
Min 8-10 years of insurance regulatory legal experience in an insurance company, law firm, or state insurance department.Minimum 3 years of experience managing insurance professionals on insurance regulatory engagements.Experience leading legal engagement with insurance department exams and inquiries along with positive history of regular and direct interaction with regulators.Strong research and analytical skills and expertise regarding state laws and regulations applicable to property/casualty insurance. Auto insurance experience strongly preferred.Strong executive communication and presentation skills.Experience with business counseling, including the ability to advise on complex issues to business professionals at every level of the organization.Ability to multi-task, prioritize projects, manage deadlines and engage effectively in cross-functional collaboration across the company.Enthusiasm for working in a team-oriented, dynamic environment; ability to work independently with minimal supervision of day-to-day tasks while also identifying matters requiring escalation.Education: Juris Doctorate from accredited law school, licensed to practice law in at least one state.
Location: Is flexible and can be remote, however if located in the Washington, DC or New York City metro areas, would be a hybrid role with 3 days/week in our Chevy Chase, MD or NYC office
Annual Salary
$175,000.00 - $274,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
