Director – Building Consultancy (Cardiff)

PROJECT & DEVELOPMENT SERVICES:

Project and Development Services (P&DS) is a global business of over 6,000 professionals supporting occupier and investor clients to deliver a range of project and professional services. In the UK, P&DS comprises four main groups; Building Consultancy (BC); Project Management (PM); Cost Management (CM) and Sustainable Asset Services (SAS).

UK & Ireland Building Consultancy is a well-established department of over 130 people with teams located across 11 office locations. We have ambitious plans to grow from our existing client base and substantial new client opportunities.

OPPORTUNITY:

We are looking for a strong Associate or Director to lead an established team within the Building Consultancy team. They will be responsible for developing and growing existing client relationships for the team, region and wider department together with producing their own revenue through delivery of key instructions.

The team consists of three direct reports, two Senior Surveyors and a Graduate Surveyor, with a view to grow this in the future as more work is generated from existing and new clients. Your role will be to lead, manage and grow the existing team overseeing all aspects of day-to-day team management including fiscal wellbeing, personnel development, client management and quality of delivery.

You will form part of our South West and Wales team, which is currently 20+ people strong. You will report directly to the Head of Building Consultancy – South West and Wales, Paul Champken, who is a member of the UK Building Consultancy Senior Management Team.

The successful candidate will join a busy and successful team based in our Cardiff office and will be working closely with other internal departments such as Property Asset Management, transactional office and industrial agency teams as well as Capital Markets (including Strategic Asset Management), as part of our OneJLL approach to provide holistic, commercial advice to our clients.

You will work closely with the Senior Management Teams for BC, PM, CM and SAS, and other stakeholders across the wider business. You will also be expected to play an active role in supporting all the component parts of the UK Project & Development Services team to facilitate growth and profitable operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Client

•Undertake the role of BC Client Relationship Manager for agreed client(s) with a focus on building/strengthening relationships and growing profitable business opportunities for your team and beyond.

• Support the Client Management team to drive best practice, innovation and a consistent first-class level of service across the UK.

• Wider business generation and cross selling - Make every effort to identify and secure new/target business opportunities for all service lines, sectors and offices within P&DS and through cross selling to the wider business.

Growth

• Work with the Senior Management Team to develop and drive the strategy for growth of the P&DS team. To include but not limited to:

o actively supporting our clients to achieve their net zero carbon and other sustainability objectives, and

o Identifying and promoting opportunities to use technology to deliver better solutions for our clients and maximise efficiency.

• Support Paul Champken to create a strong internal and external profile for the Cardiff Building Consultancy Team, retaining and building upon existing strong client relationships whilst leading on the development of business. You will work with internal teams within JLL as well as creating your own relationships.

Financial

• Grow business from existing client relationships and your own new and existing contacts. Achieve growth from identified existing client(s). Business plan and targets to be agreed.

• Actively contribute to meeting or exceeding the national P&DS target, South West and Wales team target and Cardiff team target including a personal contribution through self-delivery of at least £200,000/a.

• Manage expectations/forecasts/pipeline and take mitigating actions where necessary to deliver business plan.

People

• Fulfil the role of Team Leader for the existing team, leading and managing them and providing senior level support and expertise to junior staff, identify and recruit new talent to grow the team.

• Ensure your team is engaged and actively supported in undertaking their roles to the best of their abilities. Manage the teams financial, delivery, and pastoral requirements.

• Actively promote Diversity & Inclusion within the team and wider business.

• Collaborate with the regional BC, PM, CM and SAS leads/teams to share opportunities and resource to deliver the best result for our clients as part of a national team – Clients and UK PDS/BC first and allocating the right person for the job, irrespective of P&L and location.

• Undertake the role of APC Counsellor for candidates within the regional business, and support the wider P&DS team with documentation reviews and mock interviews.

• Market presence and good industry relationships

• Strong track record in client relationship management and developing business

• Financial and commercial acumen and P&L management experience

• Ability to navigate and manage stakeholder relationships both within the UK business and EMEA to support the aims of the business and generate opportunities

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

• Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative approach, and flexible style, with the ability to influence and confidence to challenge to achieve the required aims • Demonstrate commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace

• Operate comfortably in a fast paced, community environment and commitment to get the job done with attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and within a team

• Willingness to take on new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments

• Expert level of skill in delivering all aspects of Building Consultancy

• Ability to manage a full workload and conflicting priorities
