Director Cardiac Critical Care

Job Summary

The Director Critical Care Services leadership and support to the Chief Nursing Officer who is responsible for all nursing and other designated patient care functions/services within the hospital organization. The Director is accountable to support the CNO to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care. This leader will assume responsibility for assisting in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating nursing practice on unit level. 24/7. Direct, supervise and evaluate work activities of all nursing personnel. Provide clinical leadership, strategic and long term goals for the nursing staff. Determine, assign and assess performance objectives for nursing department. Organize, coordinate, develop and review policies, procedures and nursing protocols to meet all regulatory, compliance and quality care standards. Responsible for the quality of care, operational and financial efficiency of the nursing unit. Lead and develop the nursing staff within the unit, providing performance goals, feedback and development opportunities. Develop and oversee function/departmental budget and reporting. Direct and conduct recruitment, hiring and training of personnel. Chair committees as assigned.

Essential Functions

Active and current Registered Nurse license in the state of North Carolina.Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.Proven leadership ability and hospital operational ability.Ability to serve as role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing.Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical,administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies,service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality controlobjectives.Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, andcontinuing education initiatives.Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates incompliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing  requiredMaster's Degree in related field preferred

Licenses/Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) requiredAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) requiredCurrent RN license to practice in NC

Minimum Work Experience

Minimum of five (5) years experience as a Registered Nurse, ICU experience requiredMinimum 2 years management experience preferred.Effective communication skills with the medical staff, Executive Director, Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Nursing Officer and other administrative directors, personnel and patients.
