JOB SUMMARY: Provides administrative and clinical
leadership with 24 hour accountability for a designated
patient care unit/units. Plans and directs implementation
and evaluation of unit based programs and services.
Directs, supervises, and evaluates nursing practice to
assure the delivery of comprehensive, safe, effective,
and competent nursing care in accordance with hospital
policy and nursing practice standards. Works closely
with staff, medical staff, department directors, patients,
families, other personnel. May have verbal/written
communication or direct contact with outside agencies
and the public.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of approved school of
nursing with current license to practice as an RN in
North Carolina. BSN required. Masters degree in
nursing or related field preferred. Strong communication,
interpersonal, time management, and organizational
skills. Ability to apply knowledge of nursing practice
and theory as well as techniques of supervision,
management, and leadership.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 years experience in nursing
with at least 1 year in an acute care setting or the
equivalent thereof. Experience in a charge or supervisory
capacity or evidence of leadership and management
abilities as an RN required.
