Director Contract & Vendor Management

The Director, Contract & Vendor Management leads the development, implementation, and operational execution of sourcing, contracting, and vendor relationship management. The Director provides critical support to internal stakeholders ensuring the operational and strategic needs of the organization are delivered through efficient fulfillment of products and services, enhancing Medxcel’s ability to adapt to change, reducing network risk and facilitating financial success for Medxcel and our customers. The Director is responsible for managing their service line with a minimum of errors, driving compliance to corporate contracts and realizing savings for the business, and ensuring all governmental, local laws and codes, in addition to business ethics, are adhered to when executing procurement strategies. The Director is also responsible for leading or supporting the implementation of national initiatives and programs in partnership with other service line leaders.   The Director should have a customer centric approach and work to proactively provide solutions for our internal and external customers. The Director should maintain a working knowledge of facilities maintenance, procure to pay functions and processes, and understand the vendor landscape needed to support Medxcel’s efforts. This position is located at Central Office- Indianapolis, IN. Responsibilities Operational Excellence (30%) Oversee contract and vendor management operations in support of multiple hospital systems over a broad geographic area, accountable for achieving service, financial and organizational strategic and development goals. Utilize financial data to diagnose business strengths and weakness, generate cost-savings or cost-avoidance opportunities and commit to driving daily decisions that maximize profitability. Adapt quickly during dynamic situations making sound process changes to minimize operational risk. Foster and support key relationships for the acquisition of strategic parts and services; work with Facilities Management to develop ancillary functions necessary for maximum utilization of suppliers (i.e. training, installation support, software availability, warehousing/pre-positioning, and purchasing). Stakeholder Engagement (40%) Collaborate with Medxcel service line leaders and executives to drive business innovation, service strategies, financial savings and continuous improvement at the national level. Lead the creation, management and support of national vendor strategies and contracts in support of all Medxcel service lines. Lead the implementation of national Supply Chain strategies at all levels of the organization. Leadership (30%) Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing national team with a focus on functional expertise, service excellence, and problem-solving skills. Drive process and performance excellence through associate and leadership accountability, develop and execute management controls to assure leaders and associates meet service delivery strategy objectives and service excellence to our customers. Empower team members to achieve professional goals and individual development plans by providing resources and coaching. Build commitment and drive engagement by communicating goals, seeking to understand and inspiring action through coaching and mentoring. Builds talent capabilities to support initiatives and future objectives in the technical and leadership talent pool. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or a related field with a minimum of 7 years’ experience of which at least 3 years is management experience required. License/Certification: CPM and/or CPIM preferred. Experience: 7 years’ experience, preferably in Supply Chain or Accounts Payable functions required. 3 years’ management experience required. 3 years’ experience in organizational leadership collaboration preferred. Knowledge of facilities management in the Healthcare industry, Hospital experience preferred. Knowledge of computer software related to project management, procurement, and/or contract management preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strategic leadership skills to execute initiatives and objectives. Problem solving — identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyses information skillfully. Planning/organizing —prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans. Ability to Adapt –adapt quickly to changes in scope or direction and be flexible to adopting changes quickly. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and represent Supply Chain to various levels of the organization, on the topics of technology, tools, and processes. Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to develop and nurture trusting relationships with vendors. Ability to deal effectively with diverse roles, backgrounds, and expectations. Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and manage others. Strong crisis management skills to handle pressure from project challenges. Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal. Demonstration of knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications required. Proven ability to facilitate and drive organizational change. Must be willing to work a non-traditional schedule, as needed.
