III.                                                             Leadership Core COMPETENCIES

 

Department Operations: Plan, monitor and evaluate activities, assignments and equipment consistent with established procedures and good patient care/customer service, including establishing department scope of service. Conduct staff meetings and periodic in-service and educational opportunities for staff a minimum of six times a year. Interview and select qualified candidates consistent with People Services policies and procedures and Lifepoint values. Monitor and coach employees for maximum performance utilizing appropriate corrective action plans as necessary to improve performance/behavior deficiencies. Develop and monitor goal results, following the organization’s 5-pillar approach. Develop and submit reports and forms on time (e.g. board reports, orientation checklists, performance evaluations, financial reports, and 90-day action plans). Fiscal Management: Prepare and submit budget, financial and capital expenditures within established guidelines. Monitor department-specific reports/results (e.g. responsibility, productivity, labor distribution) and manage budget successfully.

 

Interpersonal Relations: Utilize and encourage a variety of communication means, both written and verbal, to facilitate positive interaction and information sharing. Promote and support an environment for high morale, teamwork and cooperative spirit. Follow established complaint resolution procedures (e.g. Grievance/Dispute Resolution, Patient Relations). Actively participate and contribute on various committees, teams and task forces.

 

Performance Improvement: Establish and monitor quality standards and controls. Follow Plan-Do-Check-Act process for performance improvement, which includes identification of barriers and contingency plans. Assess patient/customer needs in relation to the mission, vision, values and strategic plan. Plan and set goals, soliciting staff input to facilitate buy-in and understanding.

 

Compliance: Develop, review, update, and enforce policies and procedures to reflect compliance with Medicare (HCFA), Medicaid, Joint Commission, and other Federal and State requirements. Review and follow-up on incident reports.

 

Civic Activities: Represent the Trios Health at civic and community organizations and events and represents the Trios Health at all Trios Health l district sponsored events.

IV.                                                              ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management: Prepares department operational and capital budgets and monitors and controls operations within approved budgets. Reviews and assures compliance with productivity on a bi-weekly basis. Makes FTE recommendations and minimizes the use of contract/agency labor.  Monitors supply usage patient charges and charge master, making appropriate changes. Patient, Family and Customer Satisfaction: Monitors and evaluates customer satisfaction scores. Develops action plans to improve overall customer satisfaction scores and responds promptly to patient/customer complaints. Works collaboratively with staff and physicians to improve patient/customer satisfaction and develops plans/strategies to increase patient volumes/services. Physician Satisfaction: Works collaboratively with physicians to improve patient care, patient satisfaction and streamline operations. Actively works to resolve conflicts among staff and physicians. Regulatory Compliance: Ensures departmental standards and practices are consistent with DOH, Joint Commission and CMS. Monitors quality assurance indicators and ensures that policies and procedures are current. Ensures that staff evaluations are completed and current according to HR policies and compliance with safety and infection control standards. Quality Patient Care: Plans, develops and implements departmental goals to improve patient care and patient care delivery. Assures compliance with national/state patient care programs, IHI and national patient safety goals.  Monitors patients care indicators and outcomes and develop strategies to improve care and outcomes. Staff Moral and Retention: Promotes positive relationships between staff, physicians and other departments. Provides ongoing feedback to staff regarding job performance and makes daily decisions on staffing. Interviews and selects highly qualified candidates and evaluate and discipline staff as appropriate. Coordinates orientation of new staff and assures ongoing competency for all staff. Patient Throughput and Capacity: Works collaboratively to assure timely patient flow through department and organization. Analyzes and implements strategies to increase patient throughput and capacity.

Salary: $46.89 - $66.61
