The Director is administratively and operationally responsible 24/7 for one or more departments. This position will have direct oversight of Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Telemetry, and Emergency Department reporting to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer or senior leadership.
The Director collaborates with all levels of the nursing leadership team to develop standardized processes to improve patient and employee outcomes and satisfaction. The Director participates in strategic planning through the development and implementation of organizational goals and is accountable for the outcomes within the critical care service line.
Management of cost and finance; operations and patient flow; quality of care and clinical outcomes; patient, physician and staff satisfaction; change management; and any other relevant responsibilities related to this position.
Responsible for compliance with regulatory agency standards related to inpatient and post-acute services.

Adoption of innovative nursing practices based on evidence Effective two-way communication and problem solving at the unit and organizational level Recruitment, selection, orientation, and retention of nursing staff Ensure nursing staff compliance with the following; Professional development Adherence to nursing standards of practice Regulatory standards ANA Code of Ethics Peer reviews Organizational and unit policies Mandatory education Infection control practice Scheduling processes and procedures I CARE standards of behavior Budget development, utilization, evaluation, and adjustment Maintenance of a healthy work environment utilizing the principles of “just culture” which neither holds the nurse accountable for system failures nor tolerates reckless behavior Evaluates clinical nurses Mentors the unit leadership, educator, clinical nurses, and nursing supportive personnel. Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse License Preferred (one of the following): ANCC Nurse Executive Certification OR; AONE Certified in Executive Nursing Practice OR; AONE Certified Nurse Manager OR; Leader/Related health care administration certification and/or certification in a critical care specialty (CEN, CCRN)Pay Status:
