he Volvo Trucks North America Quality and Engineering Team is based at the headquarters site in Greensboro, NC and we are looking for a Director of Electrical & Embedded Software. The Quality and Engineering (Q&E) team is part of the global Group Truck Operations (GTO) and supports the North America plant manufacturing operations currently located in Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and soon to be Mexico. We work collaboratively with both our colleagues in the plants and those based in the purchasing, design, engineering and sales organizations at the Greensboro campus. As part of the management team in GTO Q&E you will report to the Vice President GTO Q&E NA where our goal is to develop product and process solutions, leading to operational excellence.
This is a key role, providing leadership, direction and support to the North American team for Electrical & Embedded Software for all new product projects and support towards all industrial projects related to the complete Conventional and Cab Over range for North America.
As the Director of Electrical & Embedded Software, you are part of a global team of professionals within Group Trucks Operations, responsible for the complete delivery of electrical & software preparation of all new product projects working and collaborating with plant operations, global teams, group trucks purchasing and group trucks technology. You will drive performance with new product introductions along with cross functional collaboration and communication for increased value add. As a people leader and member of the NA QE team you will provide a safe workplace and support the development of your team and the leadership team.

The NA QE Director of EL&ESW is accountable for the Electrical & Embedded Software preparation for all phases of new product introduction and maintenance of all current software.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Active team member of Q & E leadership team for NA Provide day to day work direction for team members engaged in projects and delivery. Secure customer satisfaction by assuring that our customers should not be disturbed from new product introductions. Secure early and complete involvement of the EL&ESW team in advanced development for electrical systems and software and its applications to the plant operations. Development and maintenance of competence development initiatives so we can ensure our teams are ready for new developments in EL&ESW. Develop a high performing team through anticipation and preparedness for the product portfolio and the technology roadmap Drive process improvement and associated systems in NA Champion the team culture through engagement, collaboration, accountability and inclusion in line with the Volvo Code of Conduct In a complex organization with many people involved, to develop the team and hold accountable for business success. Develop a strong global and regional network within the supply chain and product project communities within GTO and across the value chain. Take part in local and global meetings and discussion forums relating to Electrical & Embedded Software. High level of interaction with top management up to executive level in the organization. Required Educational and/or Training Qualifications & Certificates Bachelor’s degree in computer science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) 7+ years of engineering experience developing/industrializing electrical systems and software, with 5+ years of management expertise. Formal training in leadership, communication and people skills Proven track record of rapidly recruiting top talent, leading and scaling high-performing engineering teams. Excellent communication in English and interpersonal skills, with ability to influence and collaborate with senior executives and cross-functional teams. Preferred Experience & Knowledge Master’s degree in business or engineering 7+ years of relevant management experience Office software applications including advanced excel, power automate, power bi Good understanding of Heavy-Duty Truck Businesses and its Product Architecture
