As a member of Commercial Brass Leadership team, the Director of Engineering, Compliance and Quality is a highly strategic and encompassing role that provides leadership, vision, and strategies for all engineering & technology, compliance and quality activities. The position will provide organizational leadership for the engineering, compliance and quality teams while overseeing the development and implementation of robust processes and strategies to drive world class capabilities and is responsible for setting the vision and strategy for the group. This position will reside in either Cary, NC or Sanford, NC, and requires up to 25% travel. 


Key Accountabilities
•    Provides technical direction and organizational leadership for all engineering activities for the organization by providing team leadership, setting the overall vision, strategies, and driving their implementation, ensuring the organizations goals and objectives are achieved.

•    Lead, staff and develop high performance engineering teams that effectively execute engineering activities to help grow, defend and create business using cross functional engagement to achieve organizations long term goals. 

•    Develop competitive differentiation by ensuring team has best-in-class technical talent to innovate, help win business and solve challenging problems by recruiting, coaching and mentoring staff and individual contributors to sustain and evolve required skills and competencies (technical and soft)

•    Set vision and strategy on technological opportunities, product and technology roadmaps.  Provide execution oversight for important research, development, test and evaluation efforts.

•    Drive the development, implementation, management and maintenance of all aspects of internal and external quality and regulatory compliance systems in alignment with internal and external standards

•    Drive quality standards throughout organization and serve as the advocate and voice of quality throughout the business creating a common culture of quality through communication, training and cross functional engagement. Support external customer design and system requirements through Application Engineering team.

•    Ensure renewal of product certifications, registrations, and listings; tracking and reporting on the related costs as required. When new or modified requirements affecting product certification are identified, collaborate with engineering to transform into actionable items to ensure/maintain product compliance.

•    Lead announced and unannounced certification inspections from third party agencies such as UL, CSA, NSF or any other agency as required. Lead Labs to obtain and/or maintain required lab certifications by IAPMO, CSA, NSF, UL and any other agencies in order for those agencies to accept results of product testing perform in-house.

•    Set clear expectations with the teams around cradle to grave responsibility for product portfolio success.  Drive a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

•    Build high performing teams with continuous coaching, mentoring, teaching and talent development. Develop succession plans for key roles within the group. 


Qualifications/Requirements
•    BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering required. MBA ideal
•    10 to 15 years’ experience in leading high-performance teams 
•    Demonstrated experience in setting technology vision and strategy along with quality and compliance.
•    Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
•    Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Capabilities and Success Factors. 
•    Customer focus with the ability to deal with the requests of sales, service and outside customers.
•    Business, Technology and Market Acumen
•    Extremely strong leadership skills including presentation, project management, problem solving, multi-tasking,  influencing, and verbal/written communication skills a must
•    Demonstrated experience analyzing data using spreadsheet applications, Microsoft Access, and/or Minitab and leveraging data to drive fact based decision making and process improvement
