Your impact

The Director Environment, Permitting, and Compliance will develop and monitor implementation of permitting strategy, standards and guidance across the business. 
 

As part of our team you will Create and deliver standardized guidelines to support Newmont’s permitting approach for early studies, exploration, and operations,  ensuring alignment with environmental management requirements, programs, and targets.Track global environmental performance for permitting and non-compliances to minimize risk exposure and initiate improvement activities as appropriate.  Communicate status of performance to the business.Embed permitting requirements into LOA, EDS, SRD and, other business planning programs to ensure timelines and risks are identified and incorporated.Investigate and deliver updates to study, stage requirements to align with permitting strategy and approach.  This includes review and update of requirements as needed working closely with Value Assurance.Collaborate with the Enterprise Environmental SMEs and BU Environmental Performance Directors to diagnose and drive timely mitigation of material non-compliances. Work collaboratively with Corporate Governance team in the implementation of the legal compliance register and alignment of regulatory and voluntary commitments for environmental programs to ensure alignment with Newmont’s overall permitting approach.Deliver guidance working support BU Environmental Performance Directors in implementation of BU level permitting approach. Support development of stakeholder engagement mapping and engagement process to enable permitting..Collaborate with the legal, land, social and governance team to define approaches, roles and responsibilities and tracking for all operational permits and land management approaches.   This includes participating in working groups and other functions to integrate requirements into their processes.
 Prerequisites for success in this role Knowledge of legislation and standards in different regulatory settings, permitting, monitoring and management of performance for safety, environment, and social performance.Experience in developing major permits across multiple jurisdictions with proficiency in completing technical and legal compliance audits, reporting gaps and improvements.Advanced proficiency in incorporating regulatory and best-fit practices into environment and permitting policies, assessment standards, monitoring processes and reporting system.Proficiency in advising operational leadership and supporting on environmental permitting requirements, identifying gaps, and advising on solutions.Advanced proficiency in supporting operational leadership and technical and project teams to incorporate environmental matters and risks into their work.Competent commercial skills: budgets, forecasting, planning, analysis, reporting and communicating resultsUniversity degree in environmental science / engineering, law, or related field (chemistry, geology, metallurgy). International practices relevant to mining operations, exploration, environmental risk management, compliance and permitting.
 Your work environment The preferred location for this position is the corporate headquarters in Denver, CO but qualified candidates in proximity to our operations or regional offices are also encouraged to apply.Domestic and international travelProficiency in English necessary: Knowledge of Spanish, French, or Dutch a plusIf this position is hired in British Columbia the applicable pay range is CAD 180,000 to 252,000

The salary range offered for this role is USD $172,500 to 241,500. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.  

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.
