What is the Opportunity?

This role is part of Group Risk Management (GRM) – U.S. Enterprise Risk, supporting the coordination of independent risk oversight of the RBC U.S. strategic plan and execution of the Strategic Risk Management framework for the Combined US Operations (CUSO), RBC’s Intermediate Holding Company (RIHC) and branches within the U.S.  This role will provide oversight and guidance to the lines of business (LoB)s, coordinate with GRM functions in the US and Canada and assist in reviewing strategic transactions and understanding developments that could represent strategic risks to RBC US.

What will you do?

Responsible for design, development, and implementation of US Escalations & Risk Acceptance programsDevelop/refine policy and standards documents and appropriate guidance documents and training material to facilitate implementation of Escalations and Risk Acceptance programs in the USCoordinate, as appropriate, with stakeholders at the Enterprise and Lines of Businesses to facilitate alignment across the organizationDevelop and implement processes to monitor adherence to applicable policy and standards. Provide periodic reporting to senior management on adherence to policy and standardsMaintain system of record for escalationsDevelop periodic reporting on escalations and risk acceptances for senior management and the boardAnalyze portfolio of risk acceptances to uncover themes. Report on any identified themesAnalyze portfolio of escalations to uncover themes. Report on any identified themesAssist with periodic reviews and requests for information from Internal Audit and various stakeholders across Risk organizationAssist with development of ad-hoc presentations for management, formal reviews, and miscellaneous requests

What do you need to succeed?

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Law or other related fields8+ years previous experience work in a Risk Management, Controls, or Audit role in a Financial Services organizationKnowledge of one or more key risk discipline (e.g., Enterprise, Market, Counterparty, Credit, Liquidity and, Operational Risk)Experience with Strategic Planning or Strategic Risk oversightExperience developing processes and controls related to Heightened Standards or Reg YY will be prioritizedStrong written and verbal communication skillsInquisitive and proactive in identifying risks, proposing solutions and/or exercising sound and balanced judgmentSuperior ability to analyze problems and strong attention to detailTeam player; ability to successfully partner with colleagues across departments and/or divisionsAbility to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, changing environmentAbility to influence multiple stakeholders at different levels of an organizationExperience managing complex projects and initiativesIn-depth knowledge of MS Office

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $160,000 - $250,000 (NJ) depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
