Director - Executive Protection and Event Security (Buffalo, NY)

**Overview:**
Leads the development, implementation and maintenance of the Bank's Executive Protection and Event Security program. Manages team to ensure the provision of professional executive protection and event security through advance location assessment, threat analysis, and the development and application of security protocols to ensure executive safety and the security of corporate sponsored events. Works with law enforcement, first responders and third-party vendors in these duties as required.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Assist Chief Security Officer in promoting the overall mission of the Executive Protection and Event Security program by providing oversight of personal security to Bank executives, senior leaders and the safeguarding of corporate events.
+ Manage the development, implementation and maintenance of the Bank’s Executive Protection Program and associated policies and standards ensuring alignment with overall strategy and organizational needs.
+ Develop, implement and ensure compliance with process to conduct threat assessments and security evaluations for Bank leadership. Work with Protection Specialists to update and implement plans based on findings in real-time.
+ Develop, implement and ensure compliance with a strategic plan for operational security involvement in corporate sponsored events.
+ Plan and oversee security measures for corporate events, including conferences, meetings, and social gatherings.
+ Manage vehicle transportation logistics and secure travel planning for Bank executives.
+ Provide regular updates and reports to Chief Security Officer and senior management, if applicable, on security operations
+ Build and manage a team of security professionals, ensuring training is provided regarding best practices.
+ Coordinate and plan the Executive Protection and Event Security budgetary needs as support area activities
+ Remain current on threat and intelligence information relevant to performance of duties and the safety of the executives. Regularly assess potential security threats and vulnerabilities within the organization to build and implement a risk mitigation strategy.
+ Maintain rapport and open lines of communication regarding executives’ needs, requests for support, service issues, and deliverables.
+ Liaise with internal departments and external partners to ensure a unified approach to security.
+ Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis.
+ Ensure armed executive protection compliance and qualification where applicable.
+ Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
+ Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
+ Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
+ Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
+ Complete other related duties as assigned.
**Scope of Responsibilities:**
This individual is a member of M&T Bank’s Corporate Security leadership team and will oversee the Executive Protection and Event Security Program. The position serves as an intermediary between events staff and external security personnel to ensure cohesive corporate event coverage, brand protection in all regions, and works closely with law enforcement and emergency services to ensure a coordinated response to any security incident. The incumbent will possess security management expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of risk assessment and mitigation strategies. Work is conducted in a confidential and discrete manner with colleagues and external authorities. Travel within the Bank's footprint is required to perform job duties.

**Education and Experience Required:**
+ Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 9 years’ relevant work and/or military experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 years' higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 9 years' relevant work and/or military experience
+ Minimum of 3 years’ managerial, supervisory and/or work leadership experience
+ Prior experience in developing and/ or leading an executive protection and/or an event security program within a corporate environment
+ High degree of integrity and demonstrated experience in maintaining confidentiality
+ Strong ability to act decisively
+ Strong leadership skills
+ Experience communicating directly and diplomatically with various levels of leadership
**Education and Experience Preferred:**
+ Minimum of 10 years’ professional experience in corporate security, law enforcement and/or military
+ Minimum of 5 years' managerial, supervisory and/or work leadership experience
+ Demonstrated knowledge of technical security countermeasure implementation
+ Detail-oriented
+ Proven organizational skills
+ Excellent relationship management skills
+ Excellent customer service skills
+ Experience understanding and analyzing complex business problems and making sound decisions and recommendations
+ Demonstrated knowledge of security surveillance and access control equipment
+ Ability to work flexible hours, potentially from different locations based on business need
+ Membership in industry associations and/or certification in a related security field (Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or similar)
+ Ability to perform first aid and basic emergency life saving techniques when needed; maintains any related certifications

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $118,945.80 - $198,243.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
