Job Description
Departmental Operations
1. Develops and implements plan to meet regulatory and compliance standards, including KPI benchmarks and applicable policies, procedures and processes.
2. Communicates plans and manages change effectively regarding department issues.
3. Provides and promotes customer service (Patient, Employee and Physician Satisfaction).
4. Assesses management and staff education.
5. Assesses patient safety needs and maintains a safe work environment and processes.
6. Manages staff in the analytical process by assigning work and reviewing results.
Fiscal Responsibility
1. Develops annual capital and operational budget. Monitors compliance of same.
2. Considers clinical, quality and operational outcomes and financial implications when making recommendations for changes in practices/operations.
3. Evaluates use of newly developed technology or products for cost effectiveness. Prepare detailed reports on hospital’s financial performance and interprets the results of operations to all levels of management. Review monthly financial statements for completeness and accuracy.
4. Recognize patterns in hospital spending and revenue and recommend solutions to any problem areas. Supervise all audit and internal control processes.
5. Contribute to analysis of new products and services to determine profitability and alignment with business strategies.
6. Proactively participates in the entity revenue cycle including the monthly revenue cycle and denial meetings for both Plano and Allen and working with all stakeholders to understand drivers of AR and revenue valuations.
Human Resources
1. Develops and implements strategy to create a positive Employee Relations environment.
2. Supports activities to recruit, orient and retain competent staff.
3. Mentors job related growth of staff.
4. Timely completion of employee reviews.
5. All mandatory training for staff completed.
6. Employee engagement survey participation goals have been met.
7. Promote professional growth, development and accountability in staff.
8. Identify leadership talent and actively develop leadership skills for future opportunities. 10%
Strategic Planning
1. Supports the development of applicable THR and entity strategies to meet system and entity goals.
2. Participates in entity strategic planning process to meet related goals/strategies.
3. Develops department strategies.
Continuous Performance Improvement
1. Plans and implements strategies for performance improvement to effect Key Quality Outcomes.
2. Leads quality initiatives congruent with department, entity, and THR goals/strategies.
3. Works with other departments on entity and system initiatives and supports evidence-based best practices.
4. Reports critical and on-going activities and trends to QI, Employee Health, HR, leadership, etc.
5. Promotes involvement in community activities.
Timekeeping
1. Provide oversight of timekeeping staff and function for hospital so that payroll is paid accurately and timely.
2. Conducts annual evaluations, coaching, growth development of timekeeping staff.
3. Reviews best practices and data that result from the operations of timekeeping.
Professional Accountability
1. Participates in hospital initiatives (i.e. fund-raising events and community events).
2. Serves on hospital and system-based committees as appropriate.
3. Adheres to hospital and system policies.
4. Completes mandatory training and annual employee health screening timely. 5%
Charge Auditing
1. Provide oversight of charge audit staff and function for hospital so that all charges are recorded completely, accurately and timely.
2. Ensure work queues are worked timely and issues are resolved. Coordinate discussions with HIM, Revenue Integrity and other departments to ensure charge entry process flows ensure proper recording.
3. Conducts annual evaluations, coaching, growth development of charge audit staff. Ensure charge audit staff have appropriate training and mentorship.
4. Reviews best practices and data that result from the operations of charge auditing.
Customer Service
1. Timely follow through and response to issues or complaints.
2. Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external clients.
3. Able to teach/explain cost accounting issues to non-finance staff.
4. Capable of making professional presentations to staff, directors, and others as directed or required.
5. Provide decision support data to leadership for critical focus areas and support leadership with development of facility and corporate presentations.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
Experience
5 years Healthcare, budget process and planning required
2 years progressive leadership experience required
Licenses and Certifications
CPA - Certified Public Accountant or CHFP certification preferred upon hire
