(https://www.tacoma.uw.edu/strategic-planning) The Office of Community Partnerships has an outstanding opportunity for a **DIRECTOR** for the Legal Pathways program. The UW Tacoma Legal Pathways Program Director leads the Legal Pathways program, which was launched in 2019 with support from our community partners and funded by the Washington State Legislature, to build and support law-related opportunities for UW Tacoma students. The program seeks to unite students, faculty, staff and the Tacoma community in law-related education, research, events, networking and other programming that prepares students for success in law school and other law-related professions. A priority for this initiative is to contribute to enlarging the pathway into the legal professions for first generation students. The Director will have primary responsibility for leading the program, implementing and assessing outcomes, and overseeing community and campus outreach efforts. The Director will also serve as pre-law advisor for students and work closely with faculty members across campus, as well as manage recruitment and advertising for TLAW 200, assisting in the selection of adjunct faculty to teach it, overseeing course enrollment, advertising the course, and managing Legal Pathways Fellows enrolled in the course. The Director reports to the Assistant Chancellor for Community Partnerships. The Director will provide leadership for the Legal Pathways program and the University of Washington Tacoma with respect to the following activities: **Program Leadership and Management – 35%** + Identifying areas of strategic priority for the Legal Pathways program, and participate in campus strategic planning; + Allocating resources and managing the program budget to ensure compliance and fiscally responsible practices; + Overseeing day-to-day activities of the program + Prepare/present reports and presentations regarding program objectives, accomplishments, and assessment of outcomes. **Program Development and Delivery - 15%** + Designing and leading workshops and activities designed to prepare students for success in law school and other law-related professions; + Implementing and supporting law-related special projects and events that serve the campus and community, especially students, including signature events such as the annual conference. + Collaborating with academic units, faculty and campus partners on program delivery, assessment, and strengthening of pre-law learning on the Tacoma campus. **Community and Campus Outreach – 30%** + Serving as a spokesperson and liaison of the program, working closely with campus and community partners and conducting key stakeholder outreach; attend campus and community meetings; + Convening and supporting the Community Advisory Board; + Promoting the advancement of the program through fundraising, and student and alumni relations; + Exploring ways to involve the local legal community in enhancing the pre-law learning experience of UW Tacoma students; + Developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies utilizing various media and methods. **Student Support – 20%** + Overseeing all pre-law advising and programs; + Collaborate on the selection of faculty to teach TLAW 200 and promote/advertise the course to all students. + Serving as pre-law advisor and mentoring students interested in legal pathways for career or future studies; + Supporting law-related student organizations. **Minimum Requirements:** + Doctoral degree in Juris Doctorate, political science, sociology, or a related field + 3-5 years of experience in the legal field. **Additional Requirements:** + Experience in implementing and managing new programmatic initiatives. + Experience in community engagement, preferably focusing on legal issues. + A record of successful collaboration and effective public relations skills. + Demonstrated success in building relationships with a variety of stakeholders, and communicating effectively with diverse audiences to build enduring, inclusive relationships. + Project management skills including operations and budget oversight. + Experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. _Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration._ **Desired:** + 3-5 years of experience within a higher education environment is preferredApplication Process:The application process for UW positions may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process.
