We give our best effort to our work, and we put people first. We’re looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.

At Lilly’s Biotechnology Center in San Diego, we discover medicines that address significant unmet needs by integrating biology with innovative scientific capabilities in RNA and computational sciences.  We collaborate with colleagues in both the discovery and development organizations, including scientists in therapeutic area biology, biomolecule formulation and developability, ADME, Toxicology, PK/PD, Statistics, Computational Sciences, clinical development, and more.

We are seeking an experienced scientific leader to help drive our functional genomics initiatives and advance our oligonucleotide therapeutic pipeline. This role requires a strategic thinker who can bridge high-throughput genomic technologies with therapeutic development, leading cross-functional matrixed work to translate genomic insights into molecular understanding and help inform drug development decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and expand functional genomics efforts across the RNA therapeutics team to support oligonucleotide drug discovery and development programsDesign and oversee multi-omic approaches (RNA-seq, pro-seq, Ribo-seq) to characterize therapeutic targets and validate oligonucleotide mechanisms of actionDevelop and implement in vitro pharmacology strategies for oligonucleotide screening and optimization.  Experience with scaling NGS methods such as TAC-seq and 3’-end sequencing a plus. Capable of leveraging public data repositories such as ENCODE, GEO, GTEx with in house data to help design and inform experiments.Capable of mentoring and leading in a matrixed environment of genomic scientists, bioinformaticians, and molecular biologistsCollaborate with chemistry, DMPK, and toxicology teams to advance lead candidates through preclinical developmentEstablish computational pipelines for large-scale genomic data analysis and integrationInterface with external partners and present scientific findings to senior leadership and stakeholders
