Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position in the United States can be found in the JOB INFO section below. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

 Are you passionate about health, safety, environmental, and sustainability? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to lead the HSES function. As a Director-Global health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. The Director of Global Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability (HSES) directs and coordinates S&C’s Global HSES activities to assure compliance with all applicable legal and corporate requirements.  With demonstrated mastery of many areas of safety, health services, environmental expertise, and sustainability, the Director of Global HSES provides significant technical consultation, direction, oversight and innovative compliance approaches for the company. This position Reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and works closely with all plant locations globally, senior executives, local communities, and government agencies. 



Key Responsibilities:

Directly participate by providing direction and guidance, utilizing unique solutions and technology, in the development of company-wide global safety, health, environmental and sustainability programs. Promote and maintain a safe, healthy, and environmentally friendly, sustainable culture that is aligned with the Company Vision, Values, Objectives and Policies that meets the needs of stakeholders especially those of our individual team members.  Routinely communicate with team members at all levels during facility visits. Develop and maintain the S&C HSES Policy & Procedures Manual and ensure consistency of practices across all business units. Interfaces with functional groups such as Operations, Engineering, Technology, Global Sourcing, Sales/Marketing to initiate continuous improvement measures designed to meet corporate HSES objectives. Drive S&C’s Sustainability efforts through environmental improvement programs aimed at reducing our overall impact on the environment while maintaining an economically viable business model. Through professional contacts, technical papers, periodicals, and seminars, keep abreast of new and innovative developments in HSES approaches.   Provide regular written documentation and oral presentations, which both assess and record the progress of key initiatives. Direct domestic and international plants safety, health, environmental, and sustainability programs, making regular oversight audits, monitoring corrective actions, assisting facilities in continuous improvement measures.  Function as a liaison between the corporate insurance function and compliance/protective measures within the operations group such as through workers compensation outside third party administrators and legal Helps guide locations in their working relationships with their particular local professional and legislative agencies or government authorities to assure that scientific and practical data are considered in group actions and activities. Work closely with S&C’s Global Security Services to maintain and improve location security throughout the organization. Oversee and manage an HSES Staff utilizing training, motivation, delegation, and resource allocation to accomplish departmental and corporate safety objectives. Managing oversight of the on-site Health Services Medical Clinic at the Chicago location 

 

What you’ll Need To Succeed:

Minimum 4 Year college degree in Business, Occupational Safety, Technical, or related fields of study. Experience demonstrating a successful progression of development within the disciplines of health, safety, environmental, and sustainability leadership and management. Demonstrated ability to create followership through mastery change management leadership skills leading to improved safety performance. Ability to assess current state and implement changes necessary to drive meaningful results.  Stays calm under pressure. Demonstrated track record of making good decisions in challenging situations. Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills across all levels of the organization Experience in dealing with governmental compliance entities (e.g. OSHA, EPA, MWRD) and any other local city, state, or federal compliance authorities. Experience with team member medical related cases (occupational / non- occupational
