Job Description The Director of Network Services will be responsible for the global strategy, design, implementation, and operation of our network infrastructure. This includes overseeing our data centers, branch networks, and all related connectivity technologies such as IP routing, firewalls, Load Balancers, SD-WAN, and MPLS. This leadership role will manage a diverse team across regions, ensuring that our global network is reliable, secure, and aligned with our business objectives. The Director will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our network architecture, driving innovation, and ensuring that network services support the organization’s goals in a cost-effective, secure, and scalable manner. Key Responsibilities: + Network Strategy and Leadership: + Develop and execute the global network strategy in alignment with the company’s overall business and technology objectives. + Lead the design and implementation of network architecture, ensuring it is optimized for both current and future business needs, including scalability, redundancy, and performance. + Collaborate with senior leadership to define network-related business goals and ensure the network infrastructure supports growth, efficiency, and innovation. + Network Operations and Management: + Oversee the performance, availability, and reliability of the global network, including WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, MPLS, and data center infrastructure. + Ensure the smooth operation of critical network services, providing global connectivity across regions and branch offices, as well as integration with cloud services. + Manage network monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning to ensure network reliability and proactive issue resolution. + Security and Compliance: + Lead network security strategy, ensuring all network services and infrastructure are secure and aligned with industry best practices. + Oversee firewall management, security perimeter controls, VPNs, and other security technologies to protect sensitive data and network resources. + Ensure compliance with regional and global regulatory requirements for data protection, privacy, and network security, particularly in the logistics and transportation sectors. + Stay up to date with the latest trends and threats in network security and implement proactive measures to mitigate risks. + Global Team Leadership and Development: + Manage a high-performing, geographically distributed team of network engineers, architects, and administrators. + Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture, providing leadership, mentorship, and career development opportunities for team members. + Implement best practices and processes for network operations, including incident management, network design standards, and documentation. + Vendor and Stakeholder Management: + Manage relationships with third-party vendors, including network service providers and hardware/software vendors, to ensure service levels are met and costs are controlled. + Negotiate contracts, manage SLAs, and oversee vendor performance to ensure high-quality and cost-effective network services. + Collaborate with other departments, such as IT operations, cybersecurity, and business units, to understand their network requirements and ensure seamless coordination across initiatives. + Cost and Budget Management: + Oversee the global network services budget, ensuring that network investments are made in alignment with organizational priorities and are cost-effective. + Drive cost optimization initiatives, evaluating opportunities for reducing network expenses while maintaining or improving performance and security. + Innovation and Continuous Improvement: + Stay ahead of technological advancements and industry trends in network services, including SD-WAN, MPLS, cloud technologies, and network automation. + Identify opportunities for process improvements, network optimization, and automation to improve network efficiency and reduce operational overhead. + Champion the adoption of new technologies and solutions to enhance the company’s network infrastructure and overall business operations. Qualifications: + Education: + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. + Experience: + 10+ years of experience in network engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role overseeing global network infrastructure. + Extensive experience with IP routing, MPLS, SD-WAN, firewall technologies, and network security. + Proven experience in managing and scaling network services for large, complex enterprises in the transportation or logistics sector is a plus. + Strong experience with cloud-based network integrations, network automation, and advanced network monitoring solutions. + Skills: + Deep knowledge of networking protocols, including BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, and others. + Expertise in SD-WAN, MPLS, VPNs, and security perimeter management. + Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to lead and deliver large-scale network projects on time and within budget. + Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a focus on mentoring and developing talent. + Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to address complex network challenges quickly and effectively. + Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across global teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Certifications or Equivalent Experience: + CCNP or similar industry certifications. + CISSP or other security-related certifications. + PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
