**Description** **_PeaceHealth is seeking a Director Government Affairs for a Full Time, Day position in Vancouver, WA…_** The Director of Government Affairs directs, controls and is accountable for government affairs and engagement strategies at the system level. Develops long and short term business strategies, operational plans and oversees implementation. Responsible for day-to-day government affairs departmental operational needs including internal partnerships designed to achieve organizational and departmental goals. Manages the design, structure, development and planning issues within scope of direction. Responsible for quality, service and regulatory compliance for areas of responsibility. Position serves as the lead liaison between PeaceHealth and federal, state, and local government entities in assigned state(s). Position focuses on building relationships and influencing public policy that serves PeaceHealth and aligns with its mission, vision, and values. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** + Provides leadership of PeaceHealth's government affairs strategy. Including development and execution of government affairs strategic plans for each market in which PeaceHealth operates. + Develops strategy for fostering positive relations between PeaceHealth and legislators, other public officials, and allied organizations such as hospital associations. Works collaboratively with network-based resources and community affairs staff to ensure consistent messaging and execution of activities. + Provides education to board members, leadership, physician leadership, staff, the community and other PeaceHealth constituencies on the principles and goals underlying policy efforts, and represents PeaceHealth in a variety of government and corporate forums both internally and externally. + Develops, prepares, and presents information; which could include reviewing proposed new bills and draft regulations and communicates within PeaceHealth as appropriate on new legal developments. + Participates in coalitions with other organizations to take action on policy changes proposed by legislatures, government agencies and courts. May work with legislators to introduce bills that provide funding for community programs; monitors bills currently in session and drafts new bills and position papers.advocacy materials at public policy forums, government meetings and professional associations on behalf of PeaceHealth. + Oversees day-to-day government affairs departmental operations which may include leading a team of direct reports and managing contract lobbyists, ensuring alignment with PeaceHealth’s mission and strategic advocacy agenda. + Engages with PeaceHealth Chief Executives as a critical part of the government affairs strategic plans and assists PeaceHealth executive leaders and key stake holders with government affairs activities in their market. + Other duties as assigned. **QUALIFICATIONS** **EDUCATION REQUIRED** + Bachelor's Degree in Law, Public Policy, Government Affairs, Business Administration, Political Science or related field, required. + Master's Degree, preferred. **EXPERIENCE REQUIRED** + Minimum of 10 years of experience in government relations, public affairs and/or inside the legislative, executive, or congressional processes. + Minimum of 5 years progressive management experience. + Demonstrated experience in lobbying in a bi-partisan environment. + Proven planning and strategic communications/marketing experience. + Experience working in at least 2 state legislative sessions, preferred. **SKILLS REQUIRED** + Proven record of delivering outcomes-based results as defined by organizational strategic goals and initiatives. + Ability to serve as a credible system spokesperson with public officials. + Excellent verbal and written skills. Must be able to effectively interact with government officials as well as PeaceHealth leaders, staff, and the public. + Ability to maintain discretion and integrity and deal appropriately with highly sensitive information. + Excellent public speaking and presentation skills. + Ability to develop and present concise information. + Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change and ambiguity. + Ability to effectively multi-task and juggle conflicting priorities and deadlines. + Proficient in the use of MS Office applications. + Ability to travel. + Working knowledge of legislative and regulatory process with experience in healthcare, preferred. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $128,420 – $192,608 .
