Director - Hardware Engineering

**EchoStar** has an exciting opportunity for a **Director of Hardware Engineering** in our **Hughes Network Systems** division. The candidate will lead a team of highly technical hardware engineers to develop next generation satellite communication equipment for fixed and mobile applications. The position is located in our headquarters in **Germantown, MD.**
At Hughes, we are developing some of the largest and most advanced satellite and terrestrial communications systems in the world. We are looking for engineering professionals to help us achieve our vision of providing broadband connectivity everywhere. Your role is to bring best-in-class solutions to our high-throughput systems.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Manage a hardware engineering team to deliver advanced solutions for satellite and terrestrial IP-based communications systems
+ Establish objectives, specifications, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and contingency plans to ensure projects are executed effectively
+ Opportunity to lead multi-functional engineering teams including hardware, software, and network technology to achieve project objectives
+ Technical customer interface to ensure timely and cost-effective accomplishment of contractual commitments
+ Responsible for product life cycle (concept, development, integration, qualification, acceptance, delivery, and maintenance)
+ Coordinate across multiple corporate functions for product launch including business, operations, and manufacturing
**Basic Requirements:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer engineering or related technical field
+ 10+ years of experience with a background in engineering development of communication system hardware
+ 5+ years leading engineering teams in design and development projects with external customer deliverables
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering
+ Knowledge of hardware systems include baseband, RF, antenna, and electronic packaging technologies
+ Knowledge of satellite and terrestrial IP-based systems
+ Experience leading cross functional engineering teams in design and development projects
+ Project management experience highly desired with formal training or equivalent (PMP) training
The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
