Posting Number NONAC3601 Job Title Director I - Graduate Medical Education Position Title Director I - Graduate Medical Education Position Type Number of vacancies 1 Salary Department Graduate Medical Education - MiCA Position Summary The Associate Director for GME will work as an employee of Morehouse School of Medicine in partnership with CommonSpirit Health (CSH) hospitals healthcare facilities to create GME programs and/or develop affiliations with teaching hospitals. This individual must possess a high level of expertise and understanding of the Federal Medicare GME financing, CMS regulations, and ACGME program requirements. The individual must also have the requisite skills to form relationships with staff, learners, physicians, and hospital C-Suites. This position reports to the MSM Executive Director – GME Programs and may have supervisory responsibilities for staff as assigned.

The Associate Director, Graduate Medical Education (GME) executes and supports the strategic efforts and provides leadership in the growing graduate medical education partnership of MSM and CSH (MiCA). The role may have responsibility for managing and supervising personnel and financial aspects of the GME department as well as other significant administrative responsibilities as assigned. In this capacity, the Associate Director is responsible for supporting the development and monitoring of all budgets, expense control, process improvement, and problem-solving involved in linking institutional and educational needs to sound fiscal planning.

JOB DUTIES:

Supports the development of new and ongoing program accreditation efforts for the Morehouse School of Medicine CommonSpirit Health GME (MiCA) programs, assists in managing academic sponsor relationships, oversees human resource needs, and keeps MiCA and MSM leadership alert to critical needs and issues at individual hospital specific GME programs that may require unique resources or attention.

Supports hospital evaluations to determine the feasibility of creating affiliated GME programs. Able to provide financial forecasting support for the intricacies of GME financing related to individual hospitals. Monitors complex GME budget, directs the distribution of allocations and assures accurate documentation for reimbursement from Medicare. Works with local Associate Designated Institutional Officers (DIO), their staff, and hospital leadership teams to identify opportunities to maximize return on investment for individual programs and all programs as a whole Actively work with and support hospital administration and physician staff to create new GME programs. Assist the hospitals in recruiting faculty necessary to establish new GME programs. Support the implementation of Residency Management Software for each ACGME program. Works to ensure compliance with Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements through ongoing education of residency and fellowship program directors and coordinators training and developing activities for continuous accreditation. Oversees GME Office work product for the programs, staff hiring, performance development, and training recommendations. Leads, directs, trains, and coaches GME accreditation and education staff that support GME programs while ensuring work assignments align with skills and workload. Develop and establish appropriate operational goals, policies, and procedures aimed at continuous accreditation. Recommend, implement, and administer methods and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency. Monitors and oversees efforts to advance residency and fellowship education, including: Tracking accreditation status, program changes, addressing citations, oversight of program accreditation Supports preparing all program accreditation applications and associated site visits and self-studies. Work with hospitals to identify financial support needed to maintain residency and fellowship programs according to the institutional and common program requirements of the ACGME. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a related area. Minimum of 5-8 years of related experience in educational program management or equivalency. Intermediate to advanced level of experience in Microsoft Office Excellent oral and written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related area. The degree must be from a regionally accredited college or university. Understanding of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements for institutional, common, and specialty programs. Experience in higher education, undergraduate medical education or graduate medical education, or hospital administration. Knowledge and utilization of the following applications/websites: ERAS, NRMP, ACGME WebADS. Preference is given to candidates with advanced organizational skills, project management experience, and outstanding interpersonal skills. Must be willing to travel
