**Job Summary**
The Director of International Student and Scholar Services directs and oversees all functions of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS). Provides strategic planning, goal development, and assists with budgetary decisions on resource allocation for ISSS. Develops and implements business practices and processes to ensure strong customer service.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Responsible for oversight and management of ISSS.
+ Provides direct supervision to ISSS Associate Director, Director of Technology and SEVIS Management, Lead Customer Service Representative (Intake & Reception area), and Senior Advisor.
+ Oversees workflow planning and business practices, deals with complaints and escalated cases within University community.
+ Manages crisis involving international students, scholars and their families.
+ Prepares Divisional assessments & reports for ISSS, annual scholar reports and governmental compliance, leads ISSS efforts in University and governmental audits pertaining to J-1 scholars and F-1 students.
+ Directs and oversees Form I-17 recertification for F-1 student program. Prepares and submits DS-3036 program re-designation application for J-1 scholar program.
+ Evaluates and hires ISSS staff, updates job descriptions, evaluates ISSS staff training needs and annual training budgets, and performs other budgetary duties as assigned by Executive Director.
+ Oversees communications with departments regarding procedures affecting international students and scholars.
+ Oversees planning, presentation, and advertising of training programs to ISSS staff, students, scholars, university community, and beyond (int’l education community).
+ Coordinates Office efforts in representing ISSS on University Committees, working with governmental agencies on compliance, and collaborating with other institutions.
+ Collaborates with other OIE units, Division of Student Affairs, and other university departments to enhance and improve OIE processes.
+ Performs other duties assigned.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Master’s degree in a related field.
+ Five (5) years of experience in the field of international education.
+ Three (3) years of supervision and management in International Education.
+ Expertise in immigration regulations related to international students and scholars.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience working with large international student and scholar populations.
+ Experience developing scalable business processes using Sunapsis.
+ Experience living and/or working overseas.
+ Well versed in visa regulations outside of Fs and Js.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Demonstrated knowledge/familiarity with the SEVIS system, Sunapsis, PeopleSoft, Imaging Systems, and MS Office.
+ Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
+ A demonstrated student-centered approach and an understanding of student development, higher education, and the ISSS field.
+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty/staff and other relevant stakeholders, as well as students and scholars from diverse cultural backgrounds.
+ Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
