The Director, Market Access, Government Relations & Communication role is tasked with planning, directing, and influencing strategic and activities related to market access, pricing and government relations in Australia/New Zealand. This role aims to support the achievement of business goals and profit targets.

The role will contribute to the formulation of policy initiatives that enhance patient access and promote a thriving industry, while managing both internal and external communications strategies. The position is located in Sydney, Australia, and reporting to the Managing Director, Healthcare – Australia & New Zealand.

 

Your Role:

People Management

Lead the recruitment, training and development, and performance management of direct reports.Coach and counsel all direct reports in an appropriate and timely manner.Ensure complaince with Company policies and Industry guidelines, while promoting the Company’s values in daily operations.

 

Market Access & Health Economics

Continuously review the Company’s product portfolio to identify reimbursement opportunities or potential price increase in collaboration with relevant Business Units (BU).Manage the preparation of listing submissions to PBAC and PHARMAC.Support BUs in developing submissions to other payer agencies, including hospital formularies, state funding agencies, and Medicare etc.Oversee the listing process, ensuring final agreements and publication on reimbursement schemes are managed effectively.Conduct business negotiations to safeguard the Company’s interests.Develop the Company’s health economic and pricing strategy, in alignment with global and local strategic plans.Prepare the clinical and economic justifications to support reimbursement and pricing submissions to the = funding authorities.Provide expert advice on product strategy throughout product lifecycle regarding health economic matters to colleagues in the medical, sales & marketing departments.Negotiate prices for new products and advocate for existing products with the government entities.Maintain communication with international colleagues, industry organizations, health economic groups and peers in similar organizations.Assist in creating marketing plans for all new products.

 

Government Relations

Formulate and execute strategies to align company communication with government relation objectives. Build relationships with key contacts within federal and state governments, public services and relevant authorities regarding reimbursement issues.Provide guidance on government affairs and legislative issues.Assist in engagements with government departments, agencies and offices as necessary. Participate in industry associations, conferences and events to enhance knowledge and build relationships.

 

Communications

Oversee the development of internal and external communication strategies.Ensure adequate communications support for brand and company initiatives.Provide strategic counsel on Business reputation-related matters.Collaborate with the BU heads to implement external communication strategies and prioritize product communications as needed.Foster strong relationships with key external stakeholders in media, patient advocacy groups, research institutions, and the general public to enhance reputation and acceptance of priority products while mitigating risks.

 

Additional Responsibilities

Actively engage in the Company’s Performance Management Process and Personal Development planning.Adhere to company Standard Operating Procedures, industry guidelines (Medicines Australia & RMI) and uphold the Company’s Values and Code of Conduct in daily activities.Perform other assigned functions and duties as needed.

 

Who You Are:

Tertiary Degree in Business/Marketing or Health Economics.At least 5-7 years of pricing/reimbursement experience with at least 3 years in the health/pharmaceutical sector.Proficient in Pharmacoeconomic Principles.Specialist experience in either health economics or government relations is required.Strong ability to identify and comprehend key issues in healthcare policy, health economics, Pharmacoeconomics and health management.Capable of interpreting and applying regulatory/reimbursement processes and legislation.
