Job Overview The Director of Accounting is responsible for day-to-day coordination of regulatory and other government agency audit requests, and external financial statement audit requests. The Director of Accounting establishes proper procedures and oversight to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Director of Accounting will interpret technical accounting literature and lead accounting department managers through implementation of the same. Work Model: Hybrid Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Responsible for providing direction, leadership, and support to the CGS Finance functional departments which includes Accounts Payable, General Ledger, and Tax. Manages the preparation and distribution of internal financial statements and reports, ensuring quality, reliability, and accuracy. Confirms that entries, transactions, and accounts are accurately and properly consolidated and are included in financial statements. Develops and maintains the integrity of the financial reporting process and financial controls. Develops, coordinates, and updates written policies and procedures relating to the financial reporting process. Maintains and strengthens internal controls over financial reporting to safeguard Chugach financial assets. Prepares special, ad-hoc analyses for the President, VP of Finance, and other members of Executive and Senior Management. Serves as primary liaison with and oversees the work of external auditors to include financial statement auditors and/or other regulatory agency audits such as sales tax and use tax audits. Responsible for monitoring changes in accounting standards and work with CAC to determine timing and changes in processes. Develop, plan and implement applicable guidance and train CGS Finance staff as appropriate. Responsible for banking relationship with CAC: request all bank account setup and closures as well as monitors issues and controls. Responsible for cash flow reporting and processes to determine potential cash flow issues. Makes recommendations for continuous process improvements to maximize efficiency in financial reporting and operations. Performs related work as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise and mentor the supervisors within the CGS Finance department. Provide for the recruitment, retention, development, and evaluation of a strong finance team. Ensure all staff considerations are addressed properly, efficiently, and judiciously and keep track of progress until resolved. Job Requirements Mandatory: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. CPA, CMA, or MBA. Minimum of seven (7) years of accounting experience, including public accounting, or Federal Government Contracting Cost accounting experience. Two years of direct supervisory experience. Proven increasingly responsible finance and team leadership in a technically demanding environment. Operational experience within a company having multiple locations, subsidiaries and divisions. Extensive knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and compliance. Ability to interact independently with senior management team and communicate with all levels of management. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across various organizational levels and lead without direct supervisory responsibility. Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
