Description We are in search of a Director of Accounting to become a key member of our team in the Distribution industry, based in Virginia. This role involves developing tactical plans, overseeing account processes, and managing a team dedicated to the efficient performance of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Responsibilities: • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in the accounting department. • Ensure proper controls are in place and functioning to protect company assets, and implement new controls as necessary. • Manage and provide direction to the accounting team, ensuring they meet defined expectations and progress towards set goals. • Oversee the day-to-day performance of both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. • Monitor accounting operations to ensure adherence to company and functional policies as well as standard operating procedures. • Manage expenditures to ensure costs do not exceed the budget and provide justifications for any variances. • Work in collaboration with other functions to identify further opportunities to maximize budgeted performance. • Utilize various accounting software systems, such as ADP - Financial Services, BlackLine, Concur, and CRM, to streamline accounting functions. Requirements • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a senior accounting role in the wine industry • Proficient in Accounting Software Systems, including ADP - Financial Services, BlackLine, Concur, and CRM • Strong understanding and experience with Accounting Functions • Proven experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) • Skilled in conducting Auditing and ensuring compliance with financial regulations • Experience in managing and overseeing Budget Processes • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field • CPA certification is a plus • Excellent communication and leadership skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
