Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a full time Director of Activities for our Summit Behavioral Health Unit to join our team. The ideal candidates must be devoted and compassionate about their chosen career. The Director of Activities will have experience working with individuals with dementia, have a highly enthusiastic personality, and be able to develop creative activities for our residents.

 

Responsibilities of Director of Activities:

Develops, maintains and coordinates a monthly program of events and programs Establishes and maintains on-going contacts with community organizations, churches, colleges, universities, cultural organizations and other useful resources for program development. Recruits, plans and manages volunteer opportunities for the community Manages, trains and develops staff and volunteers Makes marketing presentations for community outreach efforts Works with marketing to assist in planning of community/resident events Coordinates community outings to special events, lectures, for an active resident lifestyle One-to-one activities utilizing interpersonal needs to meet resident/client needs Projects a positive image of the organization in dealing with residents/clients, co-workers and the public

 

Qualifications of Director of Activities:

At least 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, with at least 1 year of experience in a resident activities program in a health care setting. Must be able to effectively communicate with older adults in a manner that conveys warmth and professionalism Licensed or registered in Therapeutic Recreational Services with a CTRS or ADC certification.
