Hultquist Place - Activities Director Reports to: Administrator Non-exempt Full-time Work Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm, must be flexible to meet the needs of Residents and Employees, 40 hours/week. Salary: $17.00 to $23.53, commensurate with experience Purpose: This position is responsible for developing and directing an activity program for the leisure time of residents; activities are to be designed for entertainment, relaxation, socialization, exercise, stimulation, the opportunity to learn new skills, and for enhancement of the individual, psychological, social and spiritual needs of residents. Responsible for the orientation, training and supervision of all Activity Coordinators. Qualifications : High school diploma and valid drivers license required Qualified therapeutic recreation specialist recognized by an accrediting body on or after August 1, 1989; OR Has two years of experience in an age appropriate social or recreational program within the last five (5) years, one of which was full time in a patient or resident activities program in a health care setting; OR Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; OR Associates degree in recreation field, or related field Job Duties : + Maintains an organized, diverse program of individual and group activities which enables each resident to engage in cultural, spiritual, diversional, physical, political, social and intellectual activities with-in the facility and community in order to sustain and promote on individual’s potential and sense of usefulness to self and others. + Adapt activities based on resident capabilities and preferences + Manages annual budget and provides Administrator with input on needs + Purchase appropriate materials and equipment within department Budget + Plans and carries out a schedule of programs to meet the individual activity plans to include bus trips, special events and individual pursuits + Promotes and communicates the monthly calendar of activities for residents + Posts, announces and informs residents, staff and families of the scheduled activities in a timely manner + Maintains records of attendance for each activity covered + Posts event information and pictures via Social Media page (Facebook) + Schedules and plans large events, coordinator with other departments effectively + Attends department head meetings and other meetings as scheduled + Attends in-services, assuring staff is up-to-date on all in-service information + Attends appropriate trainings, courses, or seminars to enhance knowledge of activities field + Participates in related professional organizations + Writes an initial assessment and activities plan + Writes progress notes to indicate individual responses and involvement at least quarterly and more often if needed for each resident + Coordinates room and equipment use + Schedules use of Christ Chapel + Decorates facility for current season or event + Operates electronics and facility van/bus + Follows required safety procedures + Interviews and hires staff as needed + Evaluates and disciplines staff in a timely/accurate manner in accordance with Lutheran policies and procedures + Maintains a pleasant, positive and professional demeanor in all interpersonal relationships + Communicates clearly, accurately and timely both verbally and in writing + Provides a positive experience to external and internal customers + Adapt to changes in the work environment and performs well under pressure + Generates innovative ideas, approaches and solutions + Other Duties as assigned Benefits : + 401(k) + 401(k) matching + Paid Time Off + Health Insurance + Dental Insurance + Vision Insurance + Flexible Spending Account + Health Savings Account + Life Insurance + Disability Insurance + Employee Assistance Program Lutheran Social Services is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
