Summary:
Reporting to the Brown University Health Vice President/Chief Medical Information Officer the Senior Vice President/Chief Information Officer and in consultation with the Brown University Health Chief Medical Officers Chief Nursing Officers and health system departmental leadership including (but not limited to) Finance Human Resources and Supply Chain. Promotes and supports in a leadership role �artificial intelligence� (and related automation) initiatives at Brown University Health including the selection implementation safe efficient and fair rollout and use of predictive analytics generative AI and other related �machine learning� automated processes resulting in a state of the art AI experience and benefit for the academic health system its users and patients.
Responsibilities:
Develops initial and ongoing strategic and tactical plans for the effective operation of a new �artificial intelligence� resource center for Brown University Health and its institutions consistent with Brown University Health�s goals and strategic objectives integrating global artificial intelligence trends in medicine and healthcare operations into daily clinical and non-clinical administrative workflows. Collaborates with Brown University Health senior operational and clinical leadership to support and align �center� goals and priorities with organizational clinical needs and business use cases. Works with key interested parties to develop and operationalize a governance framework.
Advocates for clinical and non-clinical uses of predictive analytics generative AI and other �automated� AI related processes. Stays abreast of governmental payor and industry AI best practices and regulatory requirements including methodologies to promote and ensure the deployment of fair appropriate valid effective and safe (FAVES) AI solutions.
Creates maintains and runs the Brown University Health Center for Healthcare AI Strategy and Innovation. Leads and supervises an AI team within the Clinical Informatics division of Brown University Health Information Services. Ensures compliance with regulatory and payor requirements related to AI applications. Collaborates with and provides guidance to operational departments on AI best practices design selection development deployment and monitoring of AI models and solutions. Focuses on leveraging AI solutions that provide optimal economic value propositions improved efficiencies of operations and safe unbiased adjuncts to clinical care.
Works with other healthcare systems public and private agencies and governmental groups to integrate Brown University Health�s AI initiatives with those having similar missions.

QUALIFICATIONS-EDUCATION:
Master�s or Ph.D. in Computer Science Data Science or Healthcare Informatics
QUALIFICATIONS-EXPERIENCE:
Five years of experience working in a health system including two years working in an AI analytic or related role. Such experience should be from a diverse and operationally complex organization similar to Brown University Health. A strong understanding of healthcare operations regulations and administrative and/or patient care processes is preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Project leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to solve complex business problems and a successful track record of on time completion preferred. Experience preferably gained in complex environment similar to Brown University Health.
SUPERVISION:
Daily supervision of a senior clinical informaticist and data scientist.
