The Director of Automation (AME) supports the development and drives execution of the global manufacturing automation strategy for all manufacturing and distribution locations within Allegion around the world. The Director of Automation will play a crucial role in driving the transformation of traditional manufacturing processes into smart, automated systems that increase productivity and reduce waste. The position leads the development and optimization of Automation/Allegion’s Industry 4.0 initiatives to ensure manufacturing strategy play books, road maps and investments best satisfy our customers’ needs while effectively utilizing Allegion assets. The position will be focused on process standardization, process digitization, assembly/manufacturing automation, and electronic test support to enable best in class performance through the implementation of standard work and best practice leverage while also ensuring core manufacturing processes and company assets are effectively utilized.

What You Will Do:

Develop and champion Allegion’s Industry 4.0 strategy and Allegion Intelligent Manufacturing (AIM) efforts.Influence and drive global leverage of process optimization through digitization, technology point solutions and automation.Influence and drive process modernization/capital investment initiatives within operations, including the identification, evaluation, and business case justification of new technologies.Champion Design for Automation on New Product Development to launch with appropriate levels of automation technology.Provide guidance and training to manufacturing engineering and site teams on the use of new automation technology/systems.Partner with manufacturing facilities to enable them to implement appropriate levels of automation.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Industry 4.0 technology and emerging trends to identify and implement cost effective solutions.Evaluate and align priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment.Manage multiple global projects simultaneously.

What You Need to Succeed:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field,Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred10+ years total combined engineering, automation, or relevant experience preferred.5+ years in a leadership roleExperience leading a global team on successful Industry 4.0 projectsExperience successfully leading and managing large scale projects in a matrix organizationDemonstrated coaching and mentoring skills (ability to train others at multiple levels of the organization)Experience and demonstrated results leading or driving improvements of manufacturing footprint utilization / rationalizationKnowledge of automation technology and software, such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and robotics.Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak and communicate effectively with both senior management and team members.Up to 50% travel at times, occasionally globallyUnderstanding of process automation and Industry 4.0Understanding of manufacturing engineering processes and trendsDemonstrated project leadership skills (ability to lead and motivate others at multiple levels of the organization)Demonstrated drive for results working in a global matrix organization.
