Director of Buildings and Grounds JobID: 2056 + Position Type: Building and Grounds Department/ Director of Building and Grounds + Date Posted: 1/22/2025 + Location: K-12 All Centers + Date Available: 03/17/2025 + Closing Date: open until filled    Description:Keeps the school buildings and grounds in a condition which will help create a positive environment in which the educational process can be performed Job Summary: + Assumes the major responsibility for the recruitment, screening, hiring, assigning, and evaluation of the building custodians. + Administers, through the head custodians, the overall custodial and maintenance programs for the buildings and grounds. + Organizes and implements a program of preventative maintenance. + Verifies the schedules of custodians for coverage of buildings and grounds during school hours and non-school hours for activities, events and rentals. + Works with architects and engineers on buildings and grounds projects. + Determines and establishes detailed specifications pertaining to supplies, materials, equipment and local contracting work. + Works with vendors and contractors to receive the best products and services at the best price. + Recommends and approves purchases of supplies, repairs and equipment for the buildings and grounds department in accordance with the budgeting limitations and district policy. + Supervises and approves payment of all outside contractors performing work for the district. + Assists in preparation of the line item budget for the buildings and grounds department. + Performs written evaluations for all custodial staff, according to board policy. + Prepares custodial handbooks. + Inspects all school buildings, grounds, and installations to determine high standards of cleanliness, safety, security and workmanship. + Works with State Fire Marshal to conduct inspections of all school facilities to ensure fire safety. + Facilitates trainings on custodial procedures and use of equipment. + Verifies the custodial work schedules and vacation schedules with the head custodians. + Facilitates the Buildings and Grounds Committee for the district. + Assumes the direction of the safety and environmental impact for the district. + Attends Board of Education meetings as requested by the Superintendent. + Performs such other task as may be assigned by the Superintendent. Qualifications:Possess at least a high school education with additional training in technical areas.Knowledgeable in HVAC, electrical, and custodial services.Be able to communicate in both writing and speaking.
