The Director of Business Continuity cultivates and leads business continuity and disaster recovery strategies to ensure the organization's ability to maintain essential functions during (and after) a disaster, crisis, or other disruptions. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive business continuity plans, coordinating with various departments, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards, and future-proofing the business. This role requires strategic vision and strong leadership to safeguard operations and maintain resilience.

• Salary of $145,000-$181,000/year depending on experience

Responsibilities

Principal Accountabilities & Deliverables

Develop and lead the business continuity strategy in alignment with UTI's mission and goalsProvide strategic direction and leadership for all business continuity and disaster recovery initiativesDesign, implement, and manage the business continuity and disaster recovery plans across all UTI campuses and administrative officesConduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify critical functions and resourcesCollaborate with senior management to prioritize business continuity efforts and allocate resources effectivelyEstablish and lead a crisis management team to respond to emergencies and disruptionsDevelop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, communication strategies, and recovery operationsDevelop and deliver training programs to educate employees on business continuity plans and proceduresFoster a culture of preparedness and resilience throughout the organizationEnsure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices related to business continuity and disaster recoveryStay current with evolving industry trends, threats, and regulatory requirementsRegularly test and update business continuity and disaster recovery plans to ensure their effectivenessConduct post-incident reviews and implement lessons learned to improve future response effortsServe as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding business continuity mattersCoordinate with IT, facilities, legal, HR, and other departments to ensure comprehensive and integrated business continuity plansEstablish/maintain a high-performance team of professional, motivated and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics.Recognizes and rewards employee contributions and achievements.Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education / Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Information Technology, or a related field (required); Master's degree (preferred)Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in business continuity, disaster recovery, or a related field, with at least three (3) years in a leadership roleKnowledge base and experience should include disaster recovery planning and crisis mitigation (required)Basic to intermediate familiarity with business continuity software and tools, as well as basic IT infrastructure knowledge (preferred)Intermediate experience using Office productivity software (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) to include document formatting, organization, collaboration and review, data management, formulas, functions and pivot tables/charts, and presentation development, inclusive of multimedia, links and embedded collateral (required)

Expertise in identifying potential risks and vulnerabilities that could impact business operationsExcellent communication skills to effectively convey plans, procedures, and updates to stakeholders at all levelsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills to address and mitigate risks and disruptionsCapability to work closely with various departments to integrate business continuity plans across the organizationProficiency in managing crises, including developing response strategies and leading recovery effortUnderstanding of relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to business continuity and disaster recoveryAbility to use good judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretionAbility to work in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are essential and multiple projects are worked simultaneouslyAbility to gain, understand and apply information and data as it relates essential functions of the positionAbility to foster long-term relationships with stakeholders
