The Director of Business Operations & Chief of Staff is a multi-faceted leadership role responsible for leading all aspects of day-to-day business operations, developing and driving pivotal initiatives, and leading key relationships with collaborators. This individual will work closely with the GM of China to ensure that operational activities align with our global strategy and local market needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business strategy, operations, financial planning, and investor relations, with a proven track record to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments.

 

WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and optimize all aspects of day-to-day business operations for our China business to drive efficiency, scalability, and profitability.Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including sales, marketing, delivery, product, finance, and legal to ensure seamless execution of business initiatives.Develop and implement operational policies, processes, and metrics to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.Act as a strategic advisor and right-hand to the GM of China, supporting high-level decision-making and ensuring alignment between business operations and strategic goals.Manage internal communications, coordinate cross-departmental projects, and ensure that key initiatives are performed effectively.Prepare executive-level reports, presentations, and dashboards that provide critical insights to senior leadership.Work with GM to develop and implement business strategies for the China market, ensuring alignment with global objectives and local market dynamics.Facilitate planning sessions, monitor the progress of important projects, and adjust strategies according to market trends, competition insights, and operational results.Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, and market entry strategies to accelerate growth.Work with GM to develop compelling cases and investment proposals to support fundraising efforts, articulating the value proposition, market potential, and financial projections of the China operation.Lead all aspects of the creation and refinement of pitch decks, financial models, and other key documents vital to secure funding.Evaluate and manage funding options and opportunities in collaboration with the finance team, ensuring efficient capital allocation to support growth.Monitor market sentiment and investor feedback to advise strategy and improve investor engagement.Ensure all business operations adhere to local regulatory requirements, corporate quality standards and policies, industry standards.Identify potential risks in operational and critical initiatives and develop robust mitigation plans to safeguard the business.

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES NEEDED

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is highly preferred.8+ years of progressive experience in business operations, strategy, or management consulting, with a demonstrated track record in fast-paced, high-growth environments.Proven experience in a Chief of Staff role or similar capacity supporting senior leadership, preferably within the SaaS, pharmaceutical, medical device, hightech, or healthcare sectors.Strong expertise in strategic planning, business case development, fundraising, and investor relations.Exceptional financial savvy with hands-on experience in financial modeling, budgeting, and P&L management.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and engage effectively with external partners.In-depth knowledge of the China pharmaceutical R&D market, including regulatory, operational, and competitive landscapes, particularly in digital clinical research solutions.Fluent English and Mandarin, both can be used as working language.
