Director of CEO Communications and Executive Visibility, Asia

The Director of CEO Communications and Executive Visibility, Asia will be responsible for executing internal and external communications and content production on behalf of the President and CEO, Manulife Asia. This role will draft all CEO communications materials and oversee the editing process, working closely with the CEO to understand and implement authentic voice and style preference in all materials. Preparing executive-level briefings, speech development, video and graphic content production, and social media oversight are key activities within this portfolio.

 

This role will also work closely with the leadership team across Asia to develop and execute executive visibility plans that are supportive of the regional and Segment business strategies, helping to achieve external priorities and support executive social media channels as relevant. This will require close partnership with global and local communications and marketing leadership and business partners around the organization to understand strategic priorities and nuance in the development of all materials for the CEO and their leadership team.

 

This role will report to the Head of Communications, Asia on the Global Communications team.

Position Responsibilities:

Lead the CEO communications portfolio for Manulife Asia, with ability to execute on the CEO's strategic communications platform, ensuring key deliverables and commitments are achieved and communicated regularly.

Draft all CEO communications content including colleague messages, letters, keynote addresses and panel appearances, speeches, video scripts, executive briefings and research, financial results communications, and social media content.

Oversee the development of succinct, effective executive-level briefing documents in partnership with business leads across the firm, ensuring proper advance preparation has taken place for all CEO engagements.

Maintain CEO’s schedule of communications-related activities, staffing in-person events onsite and offsite, as appropriate, and liaising with teams across the business to ensure exemplary advance preparation. Ensure CEO's communication activities are aligned to Global Communications and Events team activities and calendaring.

Responsible for developing the executive visibility platform strategy for leadership across Asia Segment – driven by curated and personally relevant executive visibility narratives – to elevate the external presence of relevant executive leadership team members and global subject matter experts, including LinkedIn support and digital presence, external and internal speaking engagements, award submissions, and media engagements.  

Source define, and communicate authentic, differentiated, and newsworthy points of view that build brand reputation grounded in business priorities for the Asia executive leadership team. Efforts will include message development, integrated communications planning, and thinking big alongside stakeholders from across the enterprise to ensure public relations efforts are leading the news.

Create long-form articles, earned media bylines/op-eds, speeches, keynote presentations, talking points, social media posts, and presentation slides, among others, in support of the executive visibility platform strategy.

Ensure proper key message cascades, expression of corporate mission/values, and voice/tone across priority communications and within integrated communications plans to deploy clear and persuasive original content.  

Handle confidential information with poise and professionalism.  

Required Qualifications:

10+ years of work experience in a communications field.

Significant experience supporting C-suite level executives.

Exceptional writing and story-telling skills with the ability to work through and simplify complex issues and capture executive voice and tone.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and build consensus effectively.

Ability to create and manage integrated communications plans and timelines.

Strong command of traditional, digital, social, and integrated marketing tactics, with ability to independently produce digital and video content a plus.

Confident interacting with all levels of an organization, including individual contributors and senior leaders, handling confidential information with professionalism.

Strong leader with proven project management skills with the ability to juggle projects, prioritize and meet tight deadlines. Experience leading projects a must.

Self-directed problem solver, resourceful and proactive, as well as creative thinker, curious and open to innovative ideas and approaches.

Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.

A growth mindset and purpose-driven approach.

Experience at a financial institution a plus.

Potential for weekend and/or night hours and occasional travel, including international.
