Job Details Responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation through self-direction and self-management. Facilitates clarification to the clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, care providers, and coding staff to ensure that appropriate reimbursement is received for the level of service rendered to all patients with a DRG based payor. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and hospital outcomes. Educates members of the patient care team regarding clinical documentation and regulatory coding updates. Duties and Responsibilities: Facilitates and directs the accurate record of clinical documentation to ensure that appropriate reimbursement is received for the level of service rendered to all patients with a DRG based payor. Demonstrates proficiency in clinical documentation requirements for the accurate assignment of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes Analyze and audits CDI software entries and Epic work ques to ensure proper staff data entry. Educates internal customers on clinical documentation opportunities, coding and reimbursement issues as well as performance improvement opportunities and methods. Monitors outstanding CDI queries and works with appropriate parties for prompt resolution Works with quality departments to monitor PI cases ensuring documentation and coding accuracy Completes monthly query audit of staff Completes monthly PEPPER report audit for both sites Participates in site UM committee meeting, Compliance meeting , and other ad hoc meetings on request Works in collaboration with coding management to refine/adjust work flow Contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues Employee conducts himself/herself in conformity with the HIPAA Compliance Program and applicable institutional policies and procedures for patient privacy. In addition, employee conducts himself/herself in conformity with the Catholic Health Security policies and procedures. Position Requirements and Qualifications Education: BSN, PA, or NP Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficient in ICD-10-CM and PCS coding Expert knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS Official Coding Guidelines Expert knowledge of CDI chart review and query policy CCDS certified Proficient in quality metrics as it relates to coding. Experience: At least two years related CDI experience required. Salary Range USD $150,000.00 - USD $170,000.00 /Yr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
