Sensitivity - Using my senses to perceive the true attitudes and emotions of others.   Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: Has the responsibility for direction and clinical oversight of provider educational programs including Variety Care’s AT Still Training and Rotation Program, the Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship program within Variety Care, and oversight of the management of student/resident rotations within Variety Care clinics. 10 educational hours per week are given. An additional 30 clinical hours per week are spent fulfilling the duties of advanced practice provider who cares and addresses health care issues to patients of all ages. Provides care to the patients of Variety Care, following the standards of the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) and at the direction of the Medical Director and/or Supervising Physician.   Educational Oversight- Regional Director of Physician Assistant Education (RPDAE) and Variety Care APP Fellowship Program Responsible for Oversight of the AT Still Student Education Program at Variety Care including administration, compliance, management, organization, evaluation, teaching, supervision, precepting, and scholarship. Ensuring proper orientation with HR is provided to students and offboarding is accomplished at the end of rotations. Plan, in conjunction with University/Partner/or governing body, each student’s clinical experience schedule and needs. For AT Still, coordination will include all requirements for the Supervised Clinical Practice Experience (SCPE) portion of the curriculum.  Will include all responsibilities regarding the selection of students annually for the Variety Care Program. Responsible for providing support to AT Still Students when they are in the Student Education Program at Variety Care. Oversight of student performance and action plans for improvement when needed. Completion of Student Assessments or performance ratings as needed. Oversight of all required testing to include written and practical examinations, as well as other clinical year assignments including but not limited to: Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) and End of Rotation exams for AT Still PA students. Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating students.   Fellowship Director: Directing Variety Care APP Fellowship Program including administration, compliance, management, organization, evaluation, teaching, supervision, precepting. Ensuring proper orientation with HR is provided to selected APP fellows. Plan, in conjunction with Variety Care Chief Medical Officer and Medical Directors each fellow’s clinical experience, schedule and needs. This includes responsibility for the standards, quality, and reputation of the program including meeting all state, federal, and other guidelines if applicable. Provision of Support to APP Fellows as needed during their program time. Review of Fellows Performance and Coordination with Chief Medical Officer and Medical Directors regarding fellows at the end of the program. Actively participate in recruitment and selection of new fellows for admission to the Variety Care program. Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating students or fellows.   Oversight of Student/Resident Clinical Rotations Acts as a liaison between Variety Care and the community for coordination all student and resident clinical rotations. Supervision of Variety Care’s Director of Clinical Research to ensure organized student rotations within Variety Care clinics.   Clinical Duties- Advanced Practice Provider Duties and Responsibilities:  Provides quality, comprehensive, accessible and cost-effective patient care through clinical expertise, role modeling, mentoring, consultation, interdisciplinary collaboration and utilization of research. Performs clinical decision-making that is professional, innovative synthesis of knowledge, clinical evidence, research, scientific theory and PA process. Practice excellence and technical assistance is promoted through helping relationships among staff and across other disciplines, support staff and administrative staff. Follows protocols which provide medical authority when such are indicated in providing care. Performs physical examinations, screenings and assessments of patients. Selects orders and/or performs tests and procedures to augment physical findings. Utilizes appropriate laboratory tests using prescribed methods and techniques; determines normal and abnormal test results; and develops a health care plan based upon analyzed data. Defines/documents differential diagnoses and list differential diagnoses with most likely diagnoses included.     Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as deemed necessary and appropriate for a plan of care, in collaboration with supervising physician. Interprets data and diagnostic results for appropriate course of action including but not limited to blood gases, radiology, EKG, etc. in collaboration with supervising physician. Secures health histories from patients and notate findings and treatment course in patient electronic health chart including follow-up notes. Under direct and indirect supervision of a physician, diagnoses, plans and implements a comprehensive medical care plan based upon the patient’s health needs. Provides continuity to an individualized health care program for patients by referring to or collaborating with VARIETY CARE physicians and other members of the health care team. Provides instruction and counseling to individuals, families and/or groups and respects the patient’s personal desires in support of a caring environment focused on healing and preventive care. Identifies health care needs within the community and makes recommendations on comprehensive health care for patients. Assists in planning and providing in-service training as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.   Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge:  Advanced Practice Provider with licensure Five years of Clinical Experience as PA or NP Experience working effectively and tactfully with the public and co-workers. Experience exercising good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions; and in expressing ideas effectively both orally and in writing. Experience working in a multi-faceted, fast-paced environment. Prior experience with Teaching Health Centers and/or Student Rotations.   Preferred Skills or Knowledge:  Bilingual (English/Spanish). Prior work in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
