Responsibilities

As the Director of Cloud Data Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of our cloud infrastructure, specifically on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will lead multiple teams of talented operations professionals, collaborate closely with our development and security teams, and ensure the seamless functioning of our mission-critical systems. Your expertise in GCP and incident management will be instrumental in maintaining high availability, optimizing performance, and responding effectively to incidents.

 

Designing, implementing, and managing our cloud architecture on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)Collaborating with the development and architecture teams to ensure optimal cloud utilization and resource allocation.Implementing best practices for security, compliance, and data protection in the cloud environment. Leading incident response and resolution efforts, minimizing downtime and impact on services.Incident Management Team - Lead a team of incident management in the following areas:Developing and maintaining incident management processes and protocols. Conducting post-incident reviews to identify root causes and implement preventive measures. Manage incidents and problems, and take corrective action to prevent recurrence Performance Implementing monitoring tools and strategies to ensure the performance and availability of our fintech applications.Platform Operations Team: Experience managing Platform Operations team in the following areas:Identifying performance bottlenecks and areas for optimization, and working with cross-functional teams to address them.Stay up-to-date on the latest cloud computing technologies and trends Automation and ScalabilityDeveloping and maintaining automation scripts and tools to streamline operational tasks and workflows.Scaling the infrastructure to accommodate growing user demands while maintaining performance and reliability.Planning, deploying and managing cloud infrastructure, using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Team Collaborating with engineering, development, and security teams to align cloud operations with business objectives.Mentoring and guiding junior members of the cloud operations team.Communicating effectively across the organization to ensure alignment and understanding of cloud-related initiatives. 

 

Technical Qualifications:

Deep experience in managing cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or Azure.Strong understanding of cloud-native data services, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Dataproc.Experience in hybrid and multi-cloud strategies, cloud networking, and security best practices.Hands-on experience with data lakes, data warehouses, and data pipelines.Proficiency in ETL/ELT tools, batch & streaming data processing (Apache Beam, Kafka, Dataflow, Airflow, etc.).Expertise in data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning on SQL, NoSQL, and cloud databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Spanner, etc.).Strong background in observability, monitoring, alerting, and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver, Datadog, etc.).Proficiency in automation, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).Strong understanding of data privacy laws (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, etc.).Experience with IAM, encryption, and cloud security best practices.Knowledge of data cataloging, lineage tracking, and governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Google Data Catalog, etc.).

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field5+ years of experience in cloud computing operations5+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - certifications are a plus

Education:

High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management.
