The Opportunity

We are looking for a Director of Cloud Engineering, internally referred to as Cloud sub-chapter lead, to spearhead our efforts to build the next generation of cloud-based, scalable and highly interoperable remote patient monitoring solutions.

As a people leader you will be responsible to lead and inspire engineering managers as well as to hire, compose and grow multiple high performing software teams.

As a communicator you are able to collaborate with stakeholders inside and outside of the engineering organization working closely with customers to translate user needs into healthcare solutions at scale.

As a technical leader you breathe software engineering excellence. You evangelize architectural patterns, system thinking and a state of the art development lifecycle within your teams.

Experience in the domain of healthcare software is a bonus but most importantly we are looking for a passionate and energetic leader.

Your Responsibilities:

People Leadership: as a people manager, you’ll be responsible for hiring, growing and motivating engineers on your team, ensuring you recruit and retain top talent. You’ll handle managers as well as senior technical leaders.

Technology Leadership: You support teams to make educated and reflected technical decisions. You are a well skilled moderator empowering your engineers to take the right turn and reflect on tradeoffs.*
 

Process Leadership: drive and continuously improve ways of working allow your teams to ship high quality software solutions within a globally distributed organization.

Business' partnership. Ensure proper collaboration between your  teams and business within a scaled agile organization. You balance technical excellence and team capacities to be a reliable business partner.

Strategy: You foster the cloud strategy within the patient insights organization in close collaboration with architecture and product management.

Who you are:

[General requirements]

Have successfully built, deployed, and supported multiple enterprise-scale solutions in a senior leadership role with proven expertise in delivering highly scalable, high-performing, and reliable cloud solutions with enterprise-grade cost optimization, coupled with a track record of leading globally distributed software engineering teams to on-time, on-budget delivery through metrics-driven processes, hands-on development experience, and the ability to quickly learn, evangelize best practices, and craft innovative solutions for complex challenges.

[Technical / Hands-on requirements]

Proven experience in  designing, deploying, and managing cloud-based solutions on AWS (preferred) and/or any other major cloud provider (e.g. Azure, GCP, etc.) with deep knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for commercial products - ideally in a regulated environment (healthcare preferred)

Experience with cloud-native architectures, serverless computing, and microservices with expertise in software design patterns and enterprise architecture principles

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation). Understanding of containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and working knowledge of APIs, middleware, and ETL pipelines.

Experience integrating healthcare IT systems (e.g., HL7, FHIR) and knowledge of cyber security practices, e.g. authentication and authorization standards, data security, certificate management. 

[Management & Leadership requirements]

Strong communication, with the ability to explain complex technical problems to non-technical audiences and the ability to translate customer requirements to technical designs with proven ability to influence executive collaborators and cross-functional enterprise partners with proven ability to hire, develop, and manage engineering teams, including senior-level managers and technical leaders and expertise in performance management and fostering a collaborative team culture with experience in managing timelines, budgets, and competing priorities for large-scale projects

[Education requirements]

BS degree or equivalent experience in a directly related discipline (CS, Eng, etc.) with 10+ years of software development and leadership experience

Locations

You will be based in Sant Cugat (Spain), Vienna (Austria), Warsaw/Poznan (Poland) or Pune (India)
