Director of Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP)

Iona University seeks applicants for the Director of CSTEP on its New Rochelle campus. CSTEP is a New York State Department of Education funded program. The goal of CSTEP is to increase the number of students from under-represented groups who are pursuing professional licensure and careers in mathematics, science, technology and health-related fields (http://www.nysed.gov/postsecondary-services/collegiate-science-and-technology-entry-program-cstep). CSTEP provides academic enrichment and co-curricular experiences to students pursuing STEM and professional programs. The Director will lead and coordinate all CSTEP activities.
Responsibilities
Overall administration of the CSTEP program, including budget management, monitoring the program for compliance with New York State Education Department (NYSED) goals and procedures; working cooperatively with the CSTEP Advisory Board, CSTEP Faculty Coordinator, CSTEP Faculty Advisors, and the STEP program. Familiarity with NYSED fiscal documents, submitting documents throughout the program year. Coordinate academic programming with Iona University Department Chairs and Faculty Advisors. Develop, plan, and implement seminars, workshops, and activities for CSTEP pre-health and non-pre-health students. Coordinate on-site and off-site internship and research opportunities. Assist students with scholarship. Plan CSTEP Mentoring Conference and STEM Career Conference. Coordinate CSTEP Statewide Student Conference. Coordinate co-curricular activities with various Iona University departments such as Student Life. Recruit undergraduate students into the program. Assist students in selecting and applying to graduate programs of study in STEM, health, and licensed fields. Coordinate the collection and compilation of data for State and University required reports. Maintain open communication with NYSED Program Officer. Work collaboratively with CSTEP and STEP Directors in the Mid-Hudson Region. Participate in professional development opportunities (e.g., APACS). Serve on Statewide CSTEP and STEP committees. Ensure program effectiveness. Work collaboratively with various Iona University departments (e.g., Finance) to ensure compliance with New York State regulations. Candidate should have experience and knowledge of opportunity programs. Candidate will have demonstrated the ability to create, deliver, and assess programming in relation to students’ academic, professional, and personal growth.
