Director of Communications & Outreach
The Director of Communications & Outreach for the New York State College of Ceramics 
(NYSCC) and the Division of Performing Arts (PAD) at Alfred University is responsible for elevating the visibility and reputation of NYSCC and PAD-highlighting their people, programs, and platforms-to support strategic initiatives across the College and University. 

The Director will understand the uniqueness of the programs and collaborate closely with the University's central communications office and internal teams to plan, develop, implement, and support communications and outreach efforts. 

NYSCC includes the School of Art and Design, the Scholes Library, and engineering programs in Biomaterials, Materials Science, Glass Science, and Ceramic Engineering. Performing Arts includes four departments- Dance, Theatre, Music, and Performance Design & Technology. 

Salary: $68,000-$72,000, annually

Responsibilities:Develop a deep understanding of the history, partnerships, and unique integration of NYSCC and PAD within Alfred University and SUNYSupport events & programs by developing sustainable strategies for design of collateral materialsCollaborate with faculty, staff, and offices such as Admissions, Advancement, Career Development Center, and Marketing and CommunicationsBuild cohesive and consistent messaging for PAD and NYSCCManage photo and video documentation of events and all assetsMentor student interns in photography, videography, marketing, design, analytics, management, and event promotionMaintain and coordinate internal and external events calendarsCreate and distribute weekly and monthly Arts & Engineering highlights emailsSupervise consistent posting of event information on campus and community platformsAttend regular meetings with the University MarCom teamDevelop and submit an annual NYSCC report and other collateral materials to the SUNY Chancellor's OfficeMaintain and optimize website content for all divisions, programs, galleries & museum, and the Institute for Electronic Arts (IEA); assist faculty with web content using the AU templates, adhering to branding and ADA standardsRepresent NYSCC at SUNY and external events as neededCollaborate on initiatives to boost enrollment, visibility, and national rankingsReview and edit all marketing materials to ensure alignment with tone, style, and messaging prioritiesOther duties as assignedQualifications & Competencies:Master's degree preferredAt least 5 years of experience in Marketing, Communications, and/or Public Relations preferredStrong understanding of communications, media, and marketing practices, including web and digital communications strategiesExceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills with a strong command of grammar, spelling, and usageAbility to independently draft professional correspondenceExcellent interpersonal, consultative, and persuasive communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and digital programs to support design and efficienciesExperience with list segmentation, campaign development, and analyticsAvailability to work occasional evenings or weekends for events and deadlinesRequired Skills:Strong communication skills across written, verbal, and digital platformsAnalytical thinking and problem-solving abilitiesFlexibility with multi-platform messagingCapacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectivelyCommitment to inclusive, accessible, and equitable communicationsLeadership skills to supervise and motivate student interns and assistantsSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative teamReview of Applications will begin April 28, 2025 and remain open until filled!
