As Director of Content and Channels you will work with the AstraZeneca Corporate Communications team and Global Corporate Affairs (GCA) network to develop, manage and deliver high-quality digital communications to build reputation, earn trust and drive impact.
You will work independently and under direction to provide expert strategic counsel to colleagues and stakeholders across GCA and beyond in the effective execution of campaigns and communications activity. You will also lead the content strategy and management of AstraZeneca’s global corporate digital channels, ensuring they excel at telling the compelling story of our company.
You will take responsibility for developing and executing content plans for our highest profile corporate communications activity.
Taking an entrepreneurial, innovative approach, you will be expected to constantly look for new ways of working, new formats and new ways of presenting information – including through the use of Artificial Intelligence - to deliver on the CoDE’s goals.
Working in close co-operation with the Director of Amplification, you will keep our channel portfolio under constant review and ensure it is fit for purpose. Working in close co-operation with the Director, Platforms and Product, you will support the effective management of tools and services used in content delivery.
With data and insights critical to the CoDE’s strategy, you will work independently and with the Senior Manager, Data and Insights to analyse metrics and derive insights to help plan and improve campaigns.
You will be a critical member of the Centre of Digital Excellence, helping to lead it and develop its strategy, and leading its presence in AstraZeneca’s Barcelona hub. Cultural awareness and the ability to work with teams across corporate communications, including Brand and Reputation, Global Media Relations, Internal Communications and Strategy and Operations will be key.
Alongside high-level digital communications and content strategy, experience in managing multiple projects, disciplined planning, excellent writing skills and multi-channel communications experience are all essential. You will be expected to play an important role in fostering a positive culture as part of the broader Global Corporate Affairs team. Occasional working out of normal office hours will be required.
Key responsibilities
Provide high quality advice and counsel in support of digital communications strategy, tactics and execution to stakeholders across therapy and business areas, and global, regional and market teams, as well as external agencies and media partners.Develop and drive the use of effective tactics based on clear objectives, audience targeting and key performance indicators.Manage, review and publish digital content across global corporate web, paid and organic social media, employee advocacy, email and other channels.Develop and execute strategically robust content plans for corporate communications activity including quarterly earnings, major acquisitions and strategic announcements.Ensure content supports the corporate digital strategy and compliance, branding and accessibility standards.Take responsibility for the CoDE’s content planning and approval processes, ensuring they are efficient and are followed to maximise resource efficiency and minimise compliance risk.Support the provision of our platforms and tools by engaging in requirements gathering, performance feedback for vendors, new product assessments, and onboarding.Work independently and with the Senior Manager, Data and Insights to identify, track and share key performance indicators and actionable insights to inform campaign design, in-flight adjustment and post-campaign learnings.Keep the corporate digital channel portfolio under constant review, ensuring we are active on the right channels to deliver our goals, identifying opportunities to close or wind down channels or incorporate new ones, and supporting their incorporation into our strategy.Ensure a high standard of community management on our global digital channels, working in close partnership with internal stakeholders, agencies and vendors.Help lead engagement efforts across GCA to drive awareness of the corporate digital strategy and digital best practice and support the provision of the guidelines, standards, and other materials.Provide support as required across all areas of the CoDE’s operations, depending on demand.Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies - including the impact of Artificial Intelligence on role scope - supporting a culture of continuous learning and improvement across the Centre of Digital Excellence and beyond.Knowledge and experience
Excellent standard of written and spoken English.Minimum 7 years digital communications experience working in a fast-paced global in-house or agency communications team is essential.Experienced digital strategist with demonstrable understanding of and experience leading the development and execution of data-driven campaigns across paid, owned and earned channels.Highly skilled at devising and creating innovative and impactful content for multiple digital channels including web, social media and email and of leveraging enabling technologies and platforms.Experience in using data and research and sourcing insights to inform campaign planning and influence stakeholders.Experience in working with international teams or on projects with international dimensions, contributing to and prioritising multiple high-level projects across cultures and time zones.Significant experience of managing different stakeholder relationships, confident at managing up. Appreciation of the role of Artificial Intelligence in improving performance and efficiencies in digital communications.Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry or other highly regulated sector is desirable.Capabilities and behaviours
