We are looking for a sharp, skilled professional with experience in media, content, and digital communications strategies to join our team. You will be responsible for creating, improving, and maintaining content to increase brand awareness and perception, grow market share, and advance the mission of the hospital. Your duties will also include pitching stories, managing media coverage, and creating a digital communications strategy (including reputation management) to leverage custom branded content and marketing messages. Our ideal candidate is an experienced professional with demonstrable creative writing skills and experience with content optimization as well as media relations. As content and communications director, you should perform well under deadlines, be able to make quick decisions under pressure, and be detail-oriented. Ultimately, you should be able to oversee all marketing content initiatives and media coverage to advance engagement, brand perception, patient satisfaction, and ultimately, patient volume.
Responsibilities:
Assists with the creation and implementation of the annual marketing and communications plan for the medical center. Oversees the strategy and development of all print and digital communications, including website and social media. Ensures that work products are completed efficiently, are of high quality, and are reflective of the medical center’s vision. Works with outside vendors and ensures their work is accurate and completed in a timely manner. Keeps up with the latest trends and makes recommendations to the VP for changes/additions to the communications. Continually evaluates competitive healthcare services, utilization of services and facilities, physician preferences and community needs to increase the medical center's recognition in the market. Develop and execute the PR strategy in conjunction with the VP. Manage content and media coverage for special holidays, health-related recognition weeks, and stories complementing topics in the news. Leverages these elements to build/grow social presence. Prepares press releases; provides timely release of information about the medical center and its operations; ensures that all communications from the medical center are accurate, consistent, and compliant with applicable laws, regulations and hospital policies. Fosters relationships with local news media to secure key coverage, maintains list of media contacts, and acts as a point of contact for all filming and reporting. Responsible for managing and regularly updating all website content to ensure consistent tone and flow, ensuring a positive user experience. Responsible for managing calendar to ensure accurate and timely website content updates for all service lines, programs and physicians Analyzes website traffic and user engagement metrics and optimize content according to SEO best practices. Develops and executes a strong social media strategy that is fed from organic content, and assists with paid social campaigns. Measures tracks and optimizes messaging based on engagement across all social platforms. Develops and executes a consistent email marketing strategy for multiple targets (patients, donors, physicians, and other key stakeholders) comprised of medical center news and marketing messaging. Measures, tracks and optimizes layout, messaging and frequency based on metrics. Responsible for all internal communications to employees, including monthly newsletters. Writes and edits content such as blogs, speeches/talking points, website content, press releases, letters from administration, etc. Has knowledge of crisis communications; gathers accurate information necessary to formulate response to media requests for information within minutes of the request or within the media's given deadline; responds to calls from media 24/7. Collaborates with the Medical Center’s foundation on donor engagement and fundraising initiatives.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or relevant field 5-7 years of experience developing content and working with media, preferably in a medical settingWriting and Technical Skills:
Impeccable writing skills with attention to detail, grammar and style Experience drafting and editing press releases, and drafting pitches to media Experience writing content for social media, email marketing campaigns, blogs, etc. Proven experience with social media management tools and paid social campaigns Knowledge of Mailchimp or other email marketing platforms Experience with a reputation management platform (desired, but not required) Basic technical knowledge of HTML/web publishing/ WordPress (desired, but not required) Knowledge of SEO and web traffic metricsNetworking, Media and Management Skills:
Proven ability to develop and nurture relationships with media contacts and other stakeholders outside of the organization Experience leading a team; providing strategy, direction, oversight and accountability Ability to take a leading role in scheduling and supervising media coverage including in-person interviews, phone interviews, written statements, and follow-up information Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects, with assignments from both superiors and internal departments Excellent organizational and project management expertise, attentiveness to detail, and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks according to goals Ability to communicate with physicians, administrators, and clinicians and exhibit sensitivity to politics among departments, organizations, and partners Strong work ethic and ability to proactively lead projects and see them through to completionBenefits
