Experience in higher education preferred. Demonstrated success in closing several $25K+ gifts preferred. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience. Nature & Purpose of Position Reports to the Associate Vice President of Development, the Director of Development will focus on identifying and cultivating prospects with an emphasis on gifts of $25,000 and above. The Director will assess the interests and desires of these prospects and work to align their philanthropy with the various divisions and departments within the College of Business. Primary Responsibilities Builds an active portfolio of 30 – 50 prospective donors. Engages in qualification, strategy development, relationship building, and closing of gifts at $25,000+ for the College of Business. Participates in goal setting, proposal preparation, strategy development, and stewardship as required for donors in the portfolio. Successfully and consistently delivers funding proposals to prospective and current donors. Effectively works with, communicates with, and collaborates with faculty, academic leaders, and other development colleagues to develop campus-wide funding opportunities and reaching goals. Maintains appropriate electronic documentation on a timely basis, including engagement activities, proposal tracking, contact reports, donor strategies, and forecasting. Demonstrates an ability to execute successful full-cycle donor strategy. Shows willingness to collaborate and work as part of a team. Must communicate with existing donors on a regular basis for continued cultivation and retention. Must work effectively with the Dean, Associate Deans, Chairs, Faculty, and Advisory Board to develop strategies for specific fundraising needs. Collaborates with colleagues across the university to fulfill donor goals and objectives and to implement appropriate stewardship and recognition. Actively participates in College and University events and participates in any special project fundraising for university priorities as assigned by executive leadership. Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge database is not required but is a plus.
The Sam Houston State University College of Business Administration offers challenging classes taught by highly qualified faculty. The College offers a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in twelve major fields of study: accounting, banking and financial institutions, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, general business administration, human resource management, international business, management, management information systems, marketing, and supply chain management. In addition, the College offers a 4.5-year degree program for qualified students leading to a BBA in General Business Administration with a specialization in PGA Golf Management.
