Position Summary:

The Director of Emergency Services is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care in the Emergency Department. He/she provides leadership to the nursing staff members.

Training and Continued Education

Opportunities for further education and training are available to our employees. 

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree of Nursing (BSN) required.Current licensure as a registered nurse with the Virginia State Board of Nursing required.Two years healthcare leadership experience preferred.

Required Licenses

Current RN license required.BLS required.ACLS preferred.PALS preferred.Advanced Stroke Course preferred.

Essential Functions

Responsible for collaborating with other departments regarding resources and services for improved patient care .

Supervise and coordinate care in a manner to ensure that patient needs are provided in an efficient manner.

Provide excellent customer service.

Conducts interviews, hires new staff, and takes an active role in the orientation of new staff.

Completes reports, projects, and unit goals within specified timeframe and according to pre-established guidelines.

Complies with regulatory requirements and Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
