Director of Employee Relations - Remote
General Description: Responsible for leading complex employment investigations across USI and presenting findings. Develop and implement training related to employee relations topics. Includes workplace harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and conflict resolution.  
Responsibilities:Investigate escalated, complex, and sensitive employee relations concerns and hotline complaints. Provide expert consultant guidance to leaders and employees.Conduct thorough and impartial investigations and allegations of workplace violations. Includes harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other policy violations.Partner with USI legal counsel to ensure investigations are managed in accordance with the law.Develop, support, and maintain a positive employment climate during investigations.Gather relevant information, interview involved parties and review pertinent documents/records.Ensure investigations comply with federal, state, and local employment laws, and company policies.Stay updated on relevant legal developments and industry best practices.Maintain accurate and confidential records of all investigations and employee relations matters.Ensure documentation is complete, secure, and complies with legal and company requirements. Track investigation types and report on trends to key stakeholder.Ensure consistent and fair handling of employee relations matters.Provide guidance and advice to managers and employees on policy-related issues.Prepare clear, concise, and accurate investigative reports and recommend resolutions.Present findings to senior management and other stakeholders, as needed.Educate employees and managers on policies and procedures to prevent future issues.Review, customize, and implement annual harassment prevention and state required training programs.Develop and implement management training on employee relations topics.Assist with the timely completion of federal and state reporting requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities10+ years in Human Resources, including 7 years of employee relations investigation experience.Bachelor’s degree required.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proven ability to manage multiple projects with a strong sense of urgency.Ability to travel to conduct investigations and/or training as needed.
Physical Demands: 
Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment with moderate conversational noise and limited to no exposure to chemicals or toxins. Employees operate office equipment including telephone - headset, computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, and copier/scanner. Physical tasks of the job include walking, sitting, standing, bending, and typing. 
Analysis of Physical Demands: Constantly (over 66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk. Frequently (34%-66% of time) work performed requires employees to handle and grasp things, walk on normal surfaces, stand, and bend. Occasionally (1%-33% of time) work performed requires employees to have repetitive foot movements, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces to and from work and occasionally reach outward to grab things and bend. Rarely (< than 1 hour per week) work performed requires lifting/carrying items that range from 10-50lbs, pushing/pulling items that range from 10-50lbs, twisting/turning including reaching over shoulder or above head, kneeling or squatting.
