Director of Engineering

As a member of our hospitality team, the primary responsibility of a Director of Engineering is to provide strategic leadership and management to the overall operation of the hotel’s maintenance department by developing and implementing strategies and overseeing the overall performance of the department. This role is responsible for building asset protection, managing capital expenditures, and fostering a positive and productive work environment. A crucial part of this role is to include establishing an engineering operating strategy, researching and implementing new products, troubleshooting challenges, developing preventative maintenance plans, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing construction projects, and promoting energy conservation in the hotels.

Develop and lead the execution of the engineering operating strategy aligned with PCH's business goals by championing brand initiatives, ensuring their implementation, and communicating follow-up actions to the engineering team.Foster ongoing communication in all areas of engineering, consistently conveying clear departmental goals to produce desired results. Stay updated on new engineering products and trends in the market and introduce innovative ideas to the leadership team to keep the property competitive.Collaborate with direct reports to review in-house business and troubleshoot potential challenges and conflicts. Develop a long-term plan for preventative maintenance and a ten-year asset protection plan, overseeing their execution.Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal regulations. Develop project plans for renovations and new construction needs by contacting contractors for bids and supervising construction to ensure the timely completion of projects within budgetary guidelines.Interact with guests to obtain feedback on engineering services and overall satisfaction by responding promptly and effectively to guest problems and complaints.Set goals and expectations for direct reports and conduct annual performance appraisals with direct reports according to SOPs.Maintain open, collaborative relationships with direct reports and the entire engineering team. Utilize an open door policy to identify and address associate problems or concerns promptly.Develop and manage the engineering budget by reviewing financial reports and statements to determine departmental performance against the budget.Implement technology relative to procurement and negotiate contracts with service vendors and other contractors.Attend owner's meetings and provide context to engineering operational and budget results. Ensure compliance with all engineering-related management contract requirements and reporting.
