What You'll Do Performance Objectives Here are some of the things we expect you to do when you join us: • Integrations and Connectors: Dig into our cloud native Avalara product suite. We are looking to build and expand our market penetration through an extensive suite of integrations and connectors through a flexible, extensible platform capable of handling any source platforms. At the same time, we want to expose all the tax nuances through our integrations. Help us build and manage the team building this while maximizing performance, scalability and reliability and making it “oh-so-simple” to operate. • Automation vs People Power: Computers are great for process automation but there is a limit to what it can do, and you know where that limit is. You will tackle the unique challenges that occur at the intersection of software and people driven tasks and apply these solutions to the novel business automation that Avalara aims to create. • Industry Leadership: Avalara is the market leader, and we intend on staying that way. You + Avalara equal endless possibilities! • Develop and execute a comprehensive integration strategy for connecting our tax-based solution with a range of ERPs and eCommerce platforms. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align integration efforts with overall product and business goals. • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of skilled engineers, providing guidance on best practices, architecture, and development methodologies. • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the engineering teams. • Leverage your deep understanding of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce) to design and implement robust integrations. • Ensure seamless data flow and real-time synchronization between systems, minimizing latency and ensuring data integrity for an ever-growing client-base and increasing data volumes. • Drive the design and development of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable integration solutions. • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and post-release support. • Build POCs to demonstrate the technical solution feasibility. • Focus on security aspects, observability, scalability, and telemetry. • Perform code reviews and ensure coding standards and practices are followed. • Implement and follow agile/scrum processes. What You'll Need to be Successful Bachelor/master's degree in computer science or equivalent • 15+ years of full stack experience in software design and development, with a proven track record of successfully leading teams in building integrations with ERPs and eCommerce platforms. • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. • Good understanding of Object-oriented programming languages • Good understanding of ERP and eCommerce system architectures, APIs, data models, and authentication mechanisms. • Good experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, and other data interchange formats. • Familiarity with authentication protocols like OAuth and token-based authentication. • Experience in working in an Agile team with hands on with TDD, BDD • Excellent problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to navigate complex technical challenges. • Experience of working on AWS Cloud and DevOps (Terraform, Docker, ECS, etc.) would be beneficial. • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to be able to solve complex problems and critical production issues. • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software projects on time.
