TestRail Director of Engineering

This role involves leading a talented team of product architects, fostering a culture of trust and technical rigor, and guiding global teams in delivering exceptional solutions.

As a key partner to the Product Management and Executive teams, you will translate ambitious business goals into technical realities, ensuring seamless execution and outstanding product quality. With a focus on innovation, efficiency, and collaboration, you will play a critical role in building successful production software systems and advancing organizational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
 Leadership and ManagementLead, mentor and grow our team of highly-skilled product architects Build a culture of trust and rigor, guiding global software development teams in building the best technical designs and implementation approachesFoster proactive collaboration among technical teams and product teamsParticipate in and initiate activities to improve process and product quality in pursuit of excellence Strategic Planning and ExecutionCollaborate with the Product Management and Executive teams to define engineering vision and strategyTranslate business objectives into technical requirements and ensure the engineering team remains aligned with company goalsOversee the planning, execution and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they meet deadlines and budget constraints Product DevelopmentDevelop a deep understanding of the product code base through hands–on experimentation and explorationWork closely with the Product Management team to define product requirements and prioritize engineering tasksEnsure the technical feasibility of new products and features, providing input during the product design phaseIdentify gaps in the technical aspects of the end user experienceEstimate software development requirements and effort, propose alternatives and prioritize development tasks for a given area Resource ManagementManage the engineering budget, including personnel, tools and infrastructure costsEnsure the optimal allocation of resources across projects to maximize efficiency and productivity, aligned with organizational goals
Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4 years in a leadership roleProven track record of managing and scaling high-performing engineering teamsStrong technical background with experience in software development, architecture and cloud-based technologiesExcellent English verbal and written communication skills; able to explain technical issues to non-technical rolesExperience with Agile development methodologiesAbility to take raw product requirements and develop software architectures and designs to bring products to lifeWillingness and capability to learn quickly with minimal directionData-driven and relentless in researching options to ensure the very best outcomesPerformance and efficiency obsessedAmple experience building successful production software systems
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with software testing products, including TestRailPrior experience with DevOps practicesUnderstanding of data privacy and security regulationsMastery of key technologies like PHP, MySQL, Javascript
