Director of Engineering - Thermal Management

Colder Products Company (CPC) is the leading provider of quick disconnect couplings, fittings and connectors for plastic tubing. At CPC, we believe that fluid handling should be safe and easy. We engineer our connection solutions to improve the overall functionality and design of  equipment and processes for the life sciences, industrial, and chemical handling markets. Special features of our products include precise hose barbs for superior grip, built-in shutoff valves for preventing spills, and easy-to-use, push-button thumb latches for quick connecting and disconnecting. CPC is a Dover company based in St. Paul with global offices and operations in Europe and Asia.

Summary: The Director of Engineering provides leadership in support of product development and product stewardship for specific targeted markets at CPC. The person in this role acts as a critical leader in guiding the engineering management team through the growth of the business as well as the growth of their careers.

Partner with customers, sales, marketing, manufacturing, QA, and supply chain to deliver quality products for diverse OEM markets through: Leadership of the Design Engineering, Manufacturing Process Engineering, Product Engineering, and Test Lab Functions. Develop current and future managers to build a talent pipeline of future leaders. Drive improvements to CPC’s New Product Development Process by partnering with other Directors from other business units and disciplines, while creating process flexibility for the Thermal Management BU to thrive. Set clear objectives, evaluate progress against objectives, and instill performance-oriented culture with a focus on accountability and a high velocity of releasing quality new products to the market. Lead with strong enthusiasm for innovation, creativity, and passion for the product as well as the people on the team Identify proprietary Intellectual Property relative to product design and assures appropriate action is taken to protect it. Collaborates with the commercial team on overall IP strategy. Adheres to all safety regulations Demonstrates support of CPC core values Other duties as assigned

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

Provide leadership, influence, and management for: R&D Engineering Manufacturing Process Engineering Product Engineering Product Test Laboratory

Bachelor’s degree in engineering 8+ years of experience in an Engineering Leadership role with emphasis on product development Experience in a research and development environment Demonstrated history of developing managers and individuals Keen problem-solving skills Strong communication and people management skills
